Accord EX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,150 miles

On March 21, 2015 my Honda Accord, which is a 2013 model, just shut down in traffic. I tried to start my car five times, it would start for two seconds and it which shake violently and shut off. I notified the Maryland State police that my car shut down on route 50 east. They could not help me, they said just push your car off to the side of of the road. After the car set for about 10 minutes it started up. I drove in stop and go traffic for about a quarter of a mile and it shut down again. I tried to start it, it started out for two seconds it shook made noises and set off. I pushed my car onto the shoulder of the road way. I called triple a and had my car towed to Annapolis Honda dealership.

I got a call from the Honda dealership Monday around 1:30 PM. The service department said they could not find anything wrong with my car. Before picking up my car I called the Honda corporation and explained to them what had happened to my car and that the service department said there is nothing wrong. I said my car truly has a problem. Honda said they had never heard of an Accord having this problem and no one has complained to them. I believe Honda is lying.

Honda corporation did call me twice but we did not talk. I missed the call each time I called back and I would get their voice mail. On the initial call. The lady said my car was out of warranty. I said I have a problem and this as my life is being put in danger. I said I would have rather paid a $1000 and had my car repaired, rather then them saying they could not find anything. It is now a matter of when it will happen again. I just hope and pray that I am not on a interstate traveling at 65 MPH. I was fortunate that I was in stop and go traffic on the interstate.

One would think that Honda would want to get to the root cause of why my car shutdown started off started shaking but they are very nonchalant about the ordeal I went through. I would like to know who else experience this problem and have they notified the Honda Corporation?

Accord EX-L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

Purchased a 2013 Honda Accord Coupe brand new from dealership. This past fall/winter car began to shut down and restart on its own when wheel is turned/shifting from reverse to drive, drive to reverse -- usually while trying to park the vehicle or make a sharp turn. Problem occurred a few times but since has been occurring weekly. To the point where car shuts down and restarts in traffic at traffic lights --- very dangerous. Car will shut completely down and restart without user interference. When trying to park the vehicle, turning becomes very difficult and car begins to start/restart. I have to stop the car completely, cut it off and restart it to make steering work so that I can maneuver the car. Has happened multiple times and been into two dealerships, but neither have been able to duplicate the issue (of course). VERY DANGEROUS and UNSAFE, yet no one has been able to help or resolve the problems I am having... and honestly I do not feel as if there is honest effort in ensuring my safety by diagnosing the problem.
