Accord Sport 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,338 miles

I have owned several Hondas and this is the second Honda that I have purchased new that has had oil consumption and engine problems. I have taken it to the dealer several times and they don't seem to thnk there should have been a concern. The problem started at 47,000 miles when my oil light came on. I was in shock.. My gauge showed that I had still had 50% life on the oil. I checked the oil and the dip stick showed NO OIL. I added a quart of oil and took it back to dealer where they advised me that I should have never added any oil to the car....ummm I was taught to never drive a car without it....???

Long story short I have to add oil and keep the oil changed every 4,000- 5,000 miles..with all of this wonderful maintenance my cars engine light came on. 70% oil life, car isn't running hot, seems fine, drove it to dealer right away. Now they are stating that the Catalytic Converter is gone and engine needs to be rebuilt.....UUUGHHHHHH.

Accord Sport

  • Manual transmission
  • 40,000 miles

As Murphy's Law would have it, my 2013 Honda Accord Sport started having issues just outside of the warranty period. The first incident occurred on August 2nd, 2016. I was driving on Highway 101 in Brisbane, California, when my car lost all power in terms of acceleration; at the same time, the Tire Pressure Warning Light, Throttle Control Warning Light, Traction Control Waring Light, Power Steering Warning Light, Check Engine Light, and ABS light all came on. I barely made it across three lanes to the shoulder, almost causing an accident in the process. I got the car to an exit and took a quick look under the hood and under the car. There was no physical damage I could see and the car was idling at a normal rpm range. I shut off the engine, poked around a bit and still saw nothing. When I restarted the car, it was driving just fine, but all the lights remained on. I took the car home, staying in the slow lane the entire way. The following morning I was taking the car to be looked at and on the way to the shop, all the lights went off. One of the mechanics ran a code scan which turned up nothing and he took it for a drive and could not replicate the issue. I was told there wasn't much they could do.

Fast forward to today, September 21st, 2016. I am driving home from work in the Oakland Hills and all of a sudden, lights and no power again. I was able to limp over to a side street and get out of the way of traffic. I discovered that I had full power in reverse, but still no power while trying to go forward. After a few attempts the car started to drive normally again, but still with the lights. I called Honda, but the dealership said they couldn't look at my car until Friday the 23rd. Hopefully the lights will stay on until then so they can see what is causing the issue or maybe they can replicate the problem. I need this fixed because this can become a very dangerous situation.

I have never had a problem like this with any Honda I have owned and I have owned quite a few. Does anyone know anything about this issue? I love my Hondas, but my faith is fading fast on these newer vehicles.

Update from Mar 19, 2018: I incorrectly stated my complaint... there was a vibration when accelerating over 60 mph, causing a feeling of hesitation.

Accord EX-L 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,985 miles

Occasional loss of power, hesitation, delay in acceleration from a dead stop or slow moving turn. Been to dealer twice and they have not been able to replicate. Told that this is common with throttle-by-wire systems which is absurd!! This is my 3rd Accord V6, formerly 2003 & 2009 - both never had this issue. One day, I am going to get rear ended or T-Boned crossing traffic. Honda has a TSB fix for the4cyl CVT trans but NOT for the V6 with Automatic 6speed trans. How many people suffer this issue without reporting? If you are having this issue or have had it fixed please respond to this posting.

Accord CP 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

My $30,000 car leaves me in the middle of intersections, I am seriously afraid I am going to be in a wreck. You never know when it is going to happen. I have taken it to the dealership where I purchased it one hundred miles away for this issue two previous times. Tech can never duplicate the problem. I was told that I must be riding the brake. (They may as well have called me an idiot.) When we ask if they checked with any other locations to see if anyone else was having the same issues. Apparently, it is not standard procedure to go the extra mile, which to me would include calling tech support or even calling another dealership to see if anyone else was having the same issue. But they did try to sell me a new set of tires. How is that going to keep me from getting hit by another vehicle! They had my car for two weeks and I still have the same problem.

Accord CP 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 400 miles

I took my new Accord Coup to the dealership due to my car hesitating when taking off from a stop. Tech wasn't able to duplicate the problem. Here it is over two years later and I am still having the same issue. Not one person there thought enough of the issue to pursue it any further.

The problem is that there are no longer any mechanics out there, if the techs little machine doesn't give them a code to follow they think they have done their job and they apparently are not required by these corporations to do anything like go the extra mile and use their heads to think what might be causing the issue. PURE LAZINESS!! We as consumers should expect and receive more for our hard earned money. I will NEVER buy another Honda.

Accord LX 3.2ll

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

Car has a hesitating problem which gives the feeling it is going to die. Also when shifting from reverse to drive there is a looseness which gives a slight jumping as though compared to the older vehicles of having a loose drive shaft.

I've taken it to three dealership and they say, "I can't find anything wrong with the car." The problem is that in the hesitation it is sporadic and not every time which would make it hard to find. I've been told that this hesitation is due to the new transmission that doesn't operate like most cars and is the reason for the greater gas mileage.

It is just a very scary feeling to get ready to pull out in traffic and have the car go through a few seconds of hesitation which makes you push down on the accelerator and then you have a semi jumping sensation. When you put the car in park you can actually move the car backward and/or forward with a tire movement of about 3 inches and was told,

Oh well, You just need to put the brake on." I explained that I was parking my car in the garage on a flat surface so did not need to apply the emergency brake but did find it odd that there was that much looseness to a relatively new car. I explained that I have a Ford truck that is 15 years old and it doesn't have any play when in park and he said, "Oh well, this car is not made like your truck." I said, "Well it would be great if it did and then I wouldn't be having the concern that I do.
