Steering wheel turns left by itself when vehicle is stationary and ignition is first turn on and vehicle violently jerks hard left without any fair warning almost ripping steering wheel out of hands and takes me into opposite lane of highway when in motion driving down the road.

On Tuesday, May 3, 2021, my car suddenly vered to the left and I had turn my steering wheel excessivley (about 90 degrees) to get my car back into my lane. If there would have been a car next to I would have hit it someone or something. I suddenly was hearing a crackling noise from my steering column. I drove my car a couple of more times before I took it to roush Honda in westerville on 5/12/2021. When I took my cari explained the previous situation and told the gentleman that the noise in the steering column was getting louder and louder and he said I was getting charged $99 to find out what the noise is about and what was going on. On 5/13/2021, the service depart. Called to let me know that it was an alignment issue and said nothing about the noise. I asked them what about the noise and she said there was nothing on the service write up about a noise. So I asked for a manager. When the manager called, max wagner, he tried to tell me that the noise was coming from the tire and axle and not the steering column. You can clearely hear the noise coming from the inside of the car and steering column. I have a lifetime alignment with Firestone and take my car on a regular and responsible basis. Honda is clearly giving me a run around and is avoiding to fix the issue that is clearly a part manufacturing defect. Can this be investigated by your Agency?

The first time, while driving on the highway, my car steered to the right as I was driving West. It was like I was loosing control. It terrified me. It seemed like I was about to go over the bridge. It scared me so bad that I began having anxiety issues when driving over a bridge. It has happened several other times as well. I can no longer drive on the highway because I am terrified. I now only drive streets at 35 to 40 mph. Please listen to what I am saying. I felt like that it was something wrong with the car but didnt know what to do. I thought maybe it was just my imagination so I sought psychiatric advice. The doctor diagnosed me has being afraid of height, but I knew better. I have been driving these highways for years and never had any fears. Please, please, please, please recall these cars. Please don't let there have to be an accident before something is done to resolve the issue. We bought these cars in good faith of being one of the finest. Because I felt like it was the car, I have already decided to get rid of mines as soon as I can.

My car steers to the right with no warning while driven. If I let go of wheel, it suddenly drift right. It happens on local road or highway. I had alignment done, tire rotation, that did not solve the issue. The drift comes and goes. The auto dealer says power steering is not covered under power train warranty. When driving the power steering would stop working completely and vehicle operator could barely steer the vehicle. When going around a corner the power steering cut out and the driver skidded off the road but was not injured. We had to get this fixed because it was a life threatening problem. It cost us 2,500 dollars to get fixed. Honda had to replace the power steering unit steering rack. This is obviously a manufacturers defect that Honda should have paid for but we had to pay out of our own pockets because it was too dangerous to drive the vehicle.

This is to inform you I made an appointment for 2/20/2021 with my local Honda dealership one week prior based on the recall letter received from your office. I was was physically there, I was told by one of the advisor that they ran out of parts. No future appointment were made by the dealership. Not sure what is means but this was written under comments :DA212407, from the "complimentary multi point inspection" form. Personal arrangements were made to leave my car based on my convenience; the road conditions were very icy and treacherous to get there; my ride back home was waiting in the parking lot. After going through the process of checking in my car and leaving the dealership, then I received a phone call from one of the employees (yvonne) they could not accommodate me. In addition, I called your vehicle safety hotline yesterday 2//02/20/2021 to report this but your office was closed. I am very disappointed in the customer service I experienced. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with this matter.

My car suddenly starting being very difficult to steer to the right and when trying to steer to the left it spins. This occurs while driving. I live in the mountains so it is terrifying to think of the potential should I be unable to control the car and run off the road. The car is unsafe to drive and I fear for my safety so I took it to the Honda dealership in boone, nc. This leaves me without a car to drive and no access to alternative transportation in my small rural mountain community. The dealership was unable to pull a diagnostic code from the computer. They used a diagnostic troubleshooting tree and found it to be an issue with the power steering rack and the repair would be nearly $3K. I have been a loyal Honda customer for 25 years and expect better. This appears to be a widespread issue that isn't being addressed by the company. There are hundreds of reports that I have seen online with this same issue so it is clearly a manufacturing flaw that needs to be remedied by Honda. I am an elderly widow and need reliable transportation. I do not have the funds to repair this car and need assistance from Honda and the NHTSA to help get this resolved. Thank you for your assistance and urgent attention to this matter for me and the many many many others facing this same failure in the 2013 Accord. Please do the right thing. People's safety should be foremost for any company like Honda.

While driving my steering wheel sharply turns left if let go of steering wheel. Accidently I noticed I have a letter from Honda to bring the car for steering gear software update where it references to two codes that if they are set Honda will replace the steering gear assembly and extends warranty to 13 years after the purchase. Dealer upgraded the software but test driving it and still car turns left sharply but their diagnostic is not coming with any code to say the what the issue is. The steering gear apparently is electrically driven. Their recommendation is to replace it at my own cost of $3750. I directly contacted the Honda corporate at 800-999-1009 and described the situation and a case number assigned (#11377924). Separately discussing the issue with dealer management and they said they also talk to Honda engineering to find the issue and hopefully at no cost to me. Unfortunately a couple of days the case has been turned down and Honda case manager indicated they are not willing to cover the cost. I argued this is a safety matter and accident can happen. Your Honda diagnostic could not come up with any code and you need to figure this out for your own sake and Honda reputation, but to no avail unfortunately. Dealer final offer was to give a couple of hundreds off of replacement cost. If there was a diagnostic and would be able to indicate the cause that would have been acceptable. Currently this is a safety issue. I have the Honda letter and dealership done the software upgrade but currently at the car is at the dealership the dealership is gillman Honda in houston, tx at hwy 59 and sam houston beltway South.
