Accord EX V6

  • 93,000 miles

I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE THAT SCARED THE …. OUT OF ME. I PULLED OVER TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION AND MY SUNROOF GLASS WAS SHATTERED. THE ONLY THING KEEPING THE GLASS FROM GOING ALL OVER ME WAS THE SUNROOF VISOR. THIS COULD OF BEEN A SEVERE MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES.

I CONTACTED HONDA TO REPORTS THIS AND TO ASK WHY THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS WHEN THERE HAS BEEN MANY REPORTS OVER THE YEARS AND TO SEE IF I COULD GET HELP PAYING THE $534.84 THAT I DO NOT HAVE, AND A $1000.00 DEDUCTIBLE IF I TURNED INTO MY INSURANCE.

THIS IS MY FORTH HONDA AND I'M VERY UPSET WITH HONDA AND FEEL I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA IN THE FUTURE!!!!. ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS MAKE IT RIGHT! INSTEAD I'M OUT $534.84, PLUS TIME, BUT HAPPY THAT NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED AND I'M OK!!!!

Driving down a freeway doing about 70 mph when BOOM, deafening crash, followed by glass everywhere - in my hair, on the seats, on the floor. Terrifying, to say the least. My instinct was to slam the brakes, but I was in heavy traffic and knew it would've caused a horrific accident. Stopping on the shoulder was not an option. Got off at the next exit about a mile away, shaking like a leaf. Looked for a rock or something in my car. Nothing to be found. Called my husband who then Googled "exploding sunroofs" (after I sent him pictures) and he said yup, this is a thing. Unbelievable. Scared the crap out of me. Just so happened a policeman was getting gas where I stopped. He called it in and another cop came too. Told me I probably didn't need to file a report, but that I could, if needed, if there was an issue. Husband took car to the Honda dealer this morning. They are reporting it to American Honda and we're waiting for a call back. Meantime, I have personally reported it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and American Honda. Have case numbers for both. Honda rep was sympathetic. Asked me ‘did I have any other concerns,’ besides reporting it. Sure do. Told him I hoped it would be rightfully replaced at no charge with glass that is of higher quality and integrity so this doesn’t happen again. Told him it was one of the most terrifying experiences I’ve ever had on the road. No joke. Going that fast in heavy traffic, I literally thought my car had been shot. That’s how loud it was. He was very cordial and now the dealer and Honda will figure it out and I'm assuming will fix it for free. Two year old, leased vehicle, under full warranty. Makes me feel unsafe driving a car that I otherwise like very much. Millions of sunroofs out there! Grateful no one else was in the car with me. Terrible!
