My Check Charging System light started blinking in my 2014 Honda Accord Sport. Brought it in to the dealer and was told that rodents have chewed the wires to my headlight and wiring harness. The part (wiring harness) is $700.00 and labor will be $1,500.00 not including tax. And oh this is not covered under your warranty. My service guy said, "Oh you may want to use moth balls to deter the rodents after this is fixed." After I received this phone call, (as I write this my car is in the shop) I came across many complaints of Honda using soy based wiring that attracts Rodents and some customers have had this happen more than once to their vehicles. I am not sure if the wires can be fixed without the whole wiring harness being replaced and feel like I am being taken. I am upset that knowing this was an issue, that Honda owners were not notified of how to prevent this issue and save me $2,500.00.

I was just sent an email stating that Honda has been named in a lawsuit for using wiring that is coated with a soy base insulation that makes for a good treat for rodents.
The only thing I have found with my car so far is one time I opened the hood to check the oil and found rat poop on top of the battery. The car drive fine and no lights have come on indicating any codes but I guess I'm going to have to pay closer attention to all the wires to make sure nothing has been chewed on.
Sounds like this is becoming a real problem because Honda used wiring that tastes good to rodents. This tree hugging stuff has to stop somewhere when it can cause more damage than its worth.

Had to file an insurance claim. The damage disabled the lane departure warning system, rear backup camera and numerous other warning systems. Honda offered to refund my insurance deductible, however when they realized I paid cash, they only offered me a "Honda Cares" card to be used at the dealership.
