Just bought car in 11/16 drove for 2 weeks, only to have check engine light come on , Check all possible causes only to take to a Honda dealer for them to smoke test emission system and find rodents ate the evap lines on fuel tank. said to contact my insurance company as this is a common problem for this car. as it would be covered under my comprehensive insurance....said that is unacceptable and i would take it back to dealer that sold me the car. Well they said the same thing so i said it could be easily been concealed with a piece of rubber tape and by disconnecting the ground cable from battery as it would reset the check engine light. After a length conversation they agreed to install the new tank at no charge ....Now i spray the underneath side of my car with repel away to deter any critters from chewing anything and hanging mothballs on the rear sway bars to ward off any critters........having lived in this house for 25 years and owning more the a dozen different cars this is the first time ever any critter have eaten anything on my vehicle. Honda certainly know about this problem and should step up and replace any item on these vehicles that has the soy base wire, and evap tube coatings,

evap cvs stuck closed, check engine light on

Bought a brand new Honda Accord Sport in Nov of 2013, in March of 2014 the check engine light came on. The dealer said snow made the sensor burn out and also a valve canister. In August of 2014, same thing, check engine light on again, dealer put in on the computer and sensor and valve canister gone again. This time they said it was dust from driving on gravel roads. June 27th 2015, same problem, and Aug, Then September 2nd of 2015 have the same problem, but now the dealer is telling me that Honda doesn't have a permanent fix for the problem so they are not doing anything. I have been phoning the service department and they are saying...it won't cause a problem to leave the check engine light on and they will contact me when there is a permanent fix from Honda.

Update from Apr 13, 2016: April 13 2016, surprise, surprise, still no fix for the "check engine light" being on permanently. The dealer ship where I bought it is now refusing to do anything as it is off warranty.
