I was SLOWLY pulling my 2014 Honda Accord into a parking spot at the library. I was almost completely in the spot when suddenly lurched forward and ran over the concrete barrier, went down and lodged into a ditch. I had to call AAA to pull it out and tow it to a repair garage. The complete bumper was just hanging and after putting it on a lift, it was determined that there was considerable damage to the underside of the car. I feel the car malfunctioned and is a safety concern. It's in the shop so I haven't had a chance to have a Honda dealer look at it. I'm wondering if this is common and if Honda is concerned enough to consider a recall. I'm a very careful driver and did not even have a scratch on my car due to my good care. It scares me to think this could happen again, with possibly even worse results, in spite of my careful driving. I'm the original owner of the car and it has about 19,000 miles on. I bought it new in September 2014.

I experienced a very scary situation of my car surging forward while I was parking and at a slow speed as I turned in parking space with my foot on the brake. I began to let up slowly off brake creeping forward in parking space. While doing this with my foot on the brake the engine raised suddenly and surged forward. Before I could apply brake firmly the car accelerated between two poles damaging the car extensively. I'm very shook up and do not want to trust this vehicle any more. Some one could have been killed this is awful..

Whenever I tapped the brakes, the CVT would shudder. Upon acceleration (at a normal rate, not hard acceleration) the engine would shake and shudder too. Sounded crazy underpowered which should not be the case for a car with 185 horsepower. I took it to two different Honda dealers in The Valley and they both suggested similar expensive engine tune ups. I don't understand why a Honda at 70K miles being well cared for would need such extensive repair and maintenance. It reminds me of the maintenance needed on Ferraris and other high end sports cars every 10K. That's not why one buys a Honda....

Tried to park the car. When applying brakes the car suddenly raced and lurched forward. Went airborne into a marsh. Very lucky that the car didn't hit anything. Had thought about parking facing the bank. Could have been a lot more serious. Lucky someone wasn't killed. Damage is going to be around $5 to $6K Cdn.

Almost when through the garage wall when the motor suddenly raced when applying the brakes to stop.

2 close calls so far. First time I almost hit a car in front of me. 2nd time I nearly drove thru my garage door. I already reported this to Honda and they plead the fifth. Never heard of this problem. Apparently I'm the first complaint. Ya right...

Occasionally, when my foot is on the brake, the engine will start to race. I have to really press on the brake to keep the car from lurching forward. Yesterday, I was not able to do so before the car hit a pole. Damage was minor.
Update from Mar 20, 2015: I find that I have the problem when my foot hits the far right side of the brake pedal. Otherwise everything is O.K.

While slowly pulling into a parking space with my foot on the brake, the engine suddenly surged despite having my foot firmly on the brake pedal. Jumped the curb and crashed into a building. The airbag did not deploy and I was injured with broken bone and bruises. I had my seat belt on which locked because the brake was depressed by my foot. There was damage to the building and the car and my body. It was lucky no one was in the path of the car because they would have been seriously injured or worse.
The NTSB needs to look into this problem. I had same sudden acceleration with my 2005 Honda CRV in 2014 and just missed a tree by inches before i turned the engine off to stop the surge. My brakes were burned out trying to stop the car. Only way to stop the acceleration is to turn off the engine, the brakes cannot stop the car. No more Hondas for me, should have learned my lesson the first time with Honda sudden acceleration. I now have broken sternum and severe pain. Thankful no one was killed.
