I purchased my new 2014 Honda Accord coupe with v6 and navigation .My previous car was a 1998 Acura Integra which I bought new. It has 130000 miles when I traded it in mainly because I wanted the safety features which were being offered. I even added back up sensors as well as backup viewing which is now standard. This was an exciting and expensive purchase. I had high expectations since I had loved my Acura.

POOR FUEL MILEAGE is a thorn in my side especially with continual rises in fuel costs. I drive about 30 miles daily on highway. The rest is casual driving. The sticker on my car said 25mpg.. I tried to be patient since I was getting 15-16.5 mpg. Last month I went to my dealer's service department and complained to the service manager. I wanted to use one of the services I had purchased. I was told to come back at 7555 miles and 10% oil. I explained - no I ranted and raved that I didn't buy a new car and service plan to have no recourse and a refusal to do the maintenance. I was told that the mpg would improve over time 'just like his mother's did'.

Obviously I was being dismissed as an 'older woman'. They tried to appear helpful, but basically told me to watch and wait. HELP I don't want to be deceived nor to continue to pay more at the pump for 5, 000 miles. What can I do now? Any suggestions? The car was pricey enough to start with.Thanks for listening, now I hope to get some action.

I traded in a perfectly good 2009 Accord EX-L that got a solid 28 mpg for a new hybrid Accord. Honda claimed it would get 45 mpg on the highway. I knew that couldn't be true, but I hoped to get perhaps 39 or 40 mpg. When the weather is cold, I get 29 mpg on the highway, while doing everything I can to improve the mileage (eggshell on the gas pedal,etc.). Today, it was 50 degrees outside in calm wind. Again, tried everything to get the best mileage possible. Heater turned off, no radio, very slow acceleration on the entrance ramp, cruise control the entire way, etc. I ended up with 35 mpg. Very disappointed. Yesterday, I drove about 10 miles only in the city. I got 39 mpg according to the tripometer. I have just over 1000 miles on the car, almost all of it on the highway. The 35 mpg I got today is my best ever. Already thinking about selling the car..
