The first time this started it was in my driveway, I thought when I pushed the start button I didn’t push it hard enough so when I pushed it again it started. Went shopping was in the parking lot and it took 3 tries and it started.
Didn’t have a problem for a bit and a couple of weeks later we were in the parking lot and it didn’t start AAA came and jumped it and it started. Had the same thing happen in the driveway called Honda told them the problem they kept it overnight it wouldn’t start and they couldn’t find the code to diagnose so put a new battery in and said it started right up. I asked if it could be the starter they said no it wasn’t, funny thing the next morning it wouldn’t start took it to my husbands mechanic same thing nothing showed up for the diagnostic code. Took it too my old mechanic and told them to put a starter in it explained what was going on they hesitated because it didn’t show a diagnostic code, just do it! It continues to have the same issue sporadically and I am now afraid to drive it.
Honda said there was no recall but evidently there is a problem with the electrical system I also had to have my backup camera replaced and it seems like my 7 year old car is falling apart and no mechanic can find the problems since they no longer do a manual search they all depend on a diagnostic code system and say there is no problem if it doesn’t show up on their lists. I just want it fixed or find an old 60’s. vehicle that the older mechanics can examine
The engine and fine tune it.

I have a 2015 Honda Accord Sport that intermittently starts... It basically has a mind of its own! Started late last year where when I went to start it, everything electrical came on i.e. radio, air, dash lights etc as normal but it just clicked & didn't start. I kept trying and nothing. I had it jump started and nothing. So I shut the door & waited pissed as hell, late picking up my child and finally it turned over...
The same thing has continued to happen for about a year now. Some days are error free & it starts fine but it will make a loud like thrusting/churning type noise like it took the power of God for it to start or something?? I have actually been stuck at a friend's house dog sitting for 2 days until it decided one day it wanted to start. All after calling friends all hours of the night to jump start it & it still wouldn't start... I KNOW it isn't the battery because I replaced my battery after the 1st time this problem occurred - wishful thinking I guess!! Anyways, there's been times stuck in car washes and me and my 8 year old son had to push the car out of the stall to have any other car try to jump start it again and that time it actually worked??
I've asked many people about this issue and read MANY complaints online in different sites and I believe it to be a connection issue and Honda SHOULD BE LIABLE especially with as many cars of the same yrs with the exact same issue!! Its anywhere from $800-$1000 fix and some people say a new starter didn't fix it. It's the connection cylinoid thingy between starter and whatever the hell makes it start, it's either not aligned right or loose or something?? I can't afford to have it fixed which has taken money out of my pocket from work & caused me to be stranded and/or late to many different places!! This needs to be taken care of HONDA! GET YOUR billion dollar head out of your A** and fix these cars free of charge!! I will not be purchasing another Honda again, and this is my 4th Honda!! Time to buy American I guess?

We are retired and purchased this Honda new. This car has been treated very well, garaged, maintained correctly and driven softly. I am surprised that Honda Service wants 900+$ to repair something that is a manufactures error. Apparently the car was manufactured with a starter gear and torque converter ring gear that are not optimal... resulting in starter failure. Honda posted a service Bulletin describing the correction needed when replacing the starter.
I have owned many cars and would not expect a starter to fail in a car as new as this one. Their bulletin describes the manufactures problem and the needed correction. It also states the correction can only be done once, then there's a major replacement of the torque converter required. So I really expect Honda to stand by their product! We live on a fixed income and expected our car to last for us. 900$+ is too much on our budget. Especially when they acknowledge a defect in their manufacture of this car!!! What can we do???

2015 Honda accord sport at 105k miles.. my starter began to act up. It was intermediate failure. It would start sometimes and sometimes not. I got it tested and concluded starter needed to be replaced. Since it was just a starter, I took it to local mechanic shop that was pretty reputable. I had no idea of the aftermarket problems some of the starters would give Honda Accord. The mechanic changed it with after market part. It lasted only 10k miles and the following year it completely failed on me and I suspect it was a key contributor to the other problems I was having with the car. My engine would randomly misfire and I would lose power steering control. The dealership stated that these problems had nothing to do with the starter.
I ended up getting rid of the car because it was giving me to many problems that I just didn’t think I should deal with this early in the car’s life. I have two Toyotas and both together have not given me near the same amount of trouble as this car. What I have been learning now about Honda is that you can’t do anything to this car that is not Honda certified or has original Honda parts. You almost have to get everything done at the dealership and it’s all tremendously expensive. The dealership quoted me 1,200 dollars to install a new original Honda starter. I laughed in their face. I cut my loses and got a Toyota Tacoma. I will never buy Honda again. I haven’t even got started on my other problems. This is just the starter which kicked off a fury of events that drastically changed my situation. Thanks Honda. I have more confidence in my 15 year Toyota Corolla with 260k miles on it than this Accord.. Look up my misfiring and loss of power steering problem. That one was a real pain.
