This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
Paid money to have fixed...told it is not covered by warranty and "basically rodents chewed through wires"...Bull...Honda knew that they have used Soy based coating on wires and many consumers suffering power steering loss over and over. Honda needs to be liable and should be honoring manufacturer warranty!!

I lost complete control of the car and if this was on highway, either I would have seriously injured or killed. This is a serious issue and I am glad my kids were not driving this car. I have already called Honda and logged a complaint. I will update my conversations with Honda later.

OK. Now I'm really concerned for my safety and other on the road. I'm on the Pennsylvania Turnpike driving at 65 MPH and the steering light comes on and I knew immediately this was not good. I spilled my coffee as I muscled the piece of sh*t to the rest area, turned the crap off, got out, kicked the front right tire as I was swearing and yelling this will fix you, you F*^#'n piece of sh*t. People were driving buy looking at me as if I were crazy. Well, I started the car and it was magic, the light was off and the steering was soft as cloud. All it needed was a good ass whipp'n. When I calmed down I called the Honda Dealer and the car goes in on Thursday, July 16th. I will not let my Fiance or 18 yr old Son drive this car again. I don not feel it is safe and it's a time bomb waiting to explode. I think it is time for Honda to exchange this Accord for one without the steering problem.
Update from Aug 25, 2015: The issue has been resolved.

Just pulling out of a parking space and suddenly totally unable to steer the car. My wife was driving, so I reached across to try to turn it and I couldn't even move it. So she cautiously moved forward and eventually it started to work.
Then on the way home, pulled off the freeway onto the feeder road and it happened again at about 45 mph. She was trying to change lanes, so she pulled harder and suddenly it started working and the car almost went out of control because she was trying to move the steering wheel. Then I haven't been able to replicate the problem.
I talked to my daughter who has my 2004 Honda Accord and she said she had this happen as well about 7 years ago. She said it happened in her parking lot and she finally got it to work and no problem since.
I took it to the Honda dealer for repair and they pretended they never heard of this problem. They kept it overnight and of course, they didn't find any problem. I told them to replace the power steering assembly and they refused to do it because they couldn't find any problem with it. The service rep said he called his district manager, etc. Blah, blah, blah. Refused to do anything. I think this is a cover-up.

I was driving at 25 mph and the steering wheel took over vehicle and I crashed into a wooded area. Airbags deployed and someone came and helped me out of vehicle and drove me home. I towed vehicle to Nick Nicholas in Inverness Florida, and they telephoned me and said this vehicle could not be repaired. So I released car to Scaly Towing in Dunnellon Florida who has to scrap the vehicle.
Not only did I lose $16,000 dollars but I was traumatized and my grandson could have been killed as I was transferring this vehicle to him.
