Accord 4-cyl

  • 1,200 miles
While traveling southbound on rt. 95 in Delaware, the sunroof spontaneously shattered on my three month old 2015 Honda Accord. The sound was similar to a loud gun shot, followed by a crackling noise. The driver and passengers in my car did not see or hear anything hit the car roof, and none of the surrounding vehicles took any action that would have suggested something had fallen out of the sky. The sunroof shade was closed, so no glass entered the cabin. Price Honda in dover, de, replaced the sunroof glass under warranty. The Honda dealership, where the car was purchased in marlton, NJ, (burns), was reluctant to acknowledge the possibility that the sunroof spontaneously shattered and even had the audacity to charge us for touch-up paint. A quick google search resulted in several news reports regarding this problem with many makes and models. NHTSA should put auto manufacturers on notice about this defect and compel them to take action to ensure all sunroof glass is thick enough to eliminate future glass failure, which could result in severe accidents with fatal consequences. Thank you.
