problem #1

Accord Sport 2.4L

My driveway is about a 30 degree incline and I park uphill with the trunk on the down hill side. The trunk lid falls down on its own when you take your hand off of it and closes downward but then stops before fully closing. My wife and I had the trunk lid hit us both in the back and our head a couple times each and is very annoying and cheaply designed. I have looked at the parts that move and springs that give tension, and everything is intact. It seems this is a poor and very weak design. Not expected from Honda.

Update from Jun 5, 2019: Dealer looked at trunk, there is no fix. trunk operating within design specification.

Update from Feb 4, 2020: Dealer stated they could order heavy duty trunk lid torsion springs and attempt to remedy the weak factory trunk lid springs which may solve the problem however, it would be out of pocket expense and not covered under Honda standard warranty. According to the Honda Service Department, the Service Manager spoke with Honda Representative and the factory trunk torsion springs on this vehicle are operating within normal limits and not covered under warranty.
