Accord EX V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1 miles

A few days before this past Christmas I moved from an Altima lease to a ’18 Accord EX lease. I ended up paying a little more than what I wanted but was happy with the vehicle features. Unfortunately, immediately (let me note that I accepted the vehicle with less than 10 miles on it) I began having an issue with the vehicle. At certain speeds (mainly the normal traveling speeds), there will be a consistent, high pitch feedback / vibration from the speakers. It is an unmanageable noise. When I raise the radio volume past a certain setting the noise will cease. If I have others in the car, this is a major nuisance as nobody can hear anyone else.

I have had the car checked by one of your service technicians (who had been helpful to date) and was notified that this is an issue with the Automatic Noise Canceling (ANC) system. Most disappointingly, I was notified by the technician that this is a known issue with the ’18 Accords and that there is NO KNOWN FIX. And the issue apparently is worse in cold weather. I brought the vehicle back for a second repair as there was a procedure that he wanted to execute as recommended by engineering. Unfortunately, that procedure did nothing to remedy the situation.

I was instructed that my only options at this point are to drive with an open window (as that disables the ANC) or unplug the ANC (but not know are the potential negative downstream implications). The service department also said, engineering at some point will have a fix and basically I just need to deal with it.
