2018 Honda Accord Touring 1.5T 43,600 mi Driven by a 50 year old man, who drives it like a 60 year old man (maybe seen 3500RPM twice in its life)

Cold start misfire starts 6 months prior to taking vehicle into dealership.

Cold start progresses from subtle vibration to shaking over the course of 6 months, error messages for a misfire on cylinder 1 consistent for the last 30 days. Would hold idle RPM at 1900 to avoid limp mode.

Dealership diagnosis: 1. failed fuel injector on 2 and 4 2. scope detected coolant in cylinder 1.

Recommendation: 1. New injectors 2. Head gasket

Solution: New injectors and head gasket, all covered under the powertrain warranty.

Honda reputation: took a big hit for me, head gasket AND injectors at 4.5 years/ 43,000 miles? Cmon!

2018 Honda Accord LX w/1.5 turbo engine began shuddering at startup on Oct-8-2022 w/59,928 miles on it. All kinds of error/warning messages displayed on dashboard. The shuddering started prior to this date but quickly resolves in a few minutes of running so I thought no big deal just needs to warm up a bit. Car runs smoothly once warmed.

On that date, car seemed to be running fine once warmed up for a few minutes so I thought maybe a computer/electronic glitch. I parked and turned off the car. Started it back up and all the errors/warnings were still there. I was an hour away from home late at night and the car seemed fine so I traveled home. Next day, I read a DTC P0301 misfire code and then cleared the code. Car ran fine until Nov-29-2022. When codes reappeared. Made service appointment for Dec-1-2022. Dealer informed me that head gasket blown, >$4000 repair! Ridiculous for a new car w/60k miles. This is a design flaw on the earth dreams 1.5 liter turbo engine.

This car has been nothing but a nightmare since about 30,000 miles. At about 35,000 miles, I noticed that the car was burning oil. As I monitored this, it began to significantly burn more and more, over 3 quarts between 5,000 mile oil change intervals. I brought it to 3 different Honda dealers and all of them told me it was normal. So I continued to drive it and just add as needed.

At about 80k miles, the car developed a misfire at startup, almost every startup. The misfires were happening in cylinders number 1 and 2. At about 85k miles (2 weeks later), I got stuck on the side of the road with the car, due to it overheating. I popped the hood to find no coolant in the overflow bottle. I bled the entire system that night and filled it with fresh Honda antifreeze. A week later it overheated again and was empty on coolant again. I repeated the process and continued to drive it.

Now with 93k miles, the car seemed very hesitant and powerless while I drove. It then overheated again. I took it back to the dealer at this point, Eatontown Honda in Eatontown New Jersey, and they confirmed that the head gasket was blown and that I would have to pay $17,000 to replace the engine. The car is 2 years old with a perfect maintenance history.

This is the last time I will ever drive a Honda in my life time. Honda corporate also refuses to take responsibility for their failed product. It is completely stock and unmolested. Worst car experience I will probably ever have. Unbelievable product, and even worse customer service from corporate.
