I was fortunate to be traveling on a residential street when the car automatically braked coming to a complete stop and the transmission automatically shifted into neutral. Had someone been driving behind me, it is likely I would have been hit...the car just stopped; there was no warning and nothing I could do. The car was still running, but remained in neutral regardless of where the gear shifter was placed. The dash BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE light came on and said to contact dealer and then the TRANSMISSION FAILURE warning light came on the dash and said to contact dealer. We called the dealership as the car was not operable; stuck in the middle of the street running. The service advisor said to turn the car off and restart which we did. It restarted and apparently "reset" the systems. We were told to drive the car to the dealership which we refused to do. We did not feel is was safe to drive, especially on the freeway should it again become disabled while driving. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership. We were advised that the transmission had to be replaced (only 240 miles on the new Honda). We went to the dealership to find out our options since we were concerned about reliability. We were informed by the sales manager that the car was ours, in our name, we owned the car. They offered to repair it under warranty or we could pay $2500-$3000 for another new Honda. Only 240 miles on the brand new 2018 Honda Accord when the transmission went out!
