The brake light illuminated, and the vehicle braked without assistance. The contact vehicle was towed, but the driver of the Honda Accord drove his vehicle from the scene of the accident. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

I was highway driving when suddenly a brake light flashed on and off and car came to an immediate stop (then go). There was no use of the brake pedal, nothing ahead of me - and fortunately no one behind be which could have resulted in a serious crash, Safety was a major risk!! Husband checked fluid, car is now "awaiting" inspection at a reputable diagnostic service location. Read an article about these similar defects/complaints, but the Honda dealership claims there have been no like incidents, complaints or concerns. I read otherwise that indicated such events were under investigation (CNN Wire Feb 27,2002). When I called another dealership, they explained that there were not enough complaints to warrant a (safety recall). I beg to disagree!! Today's date is 11/04/2023. Thank you.

My three year old daughter was locked in the vehicle recently which is a major safety concern and was a very terrifying experience. All door locks were malfunctioning. I was unable to gain access to her for several minutes via my key fob or manually pulling the handle/latch. It was in the 40s, after several minutes I was able to gain access through the drivers door. I struggled to undo her car seat from the front. Finally I was able to reach her and she crawled out through the front seat. I was frantic because I was unable to manually unlock the doors when the door release latching system failed. The very next morning I went to warm up the car to take my daughter to school and 10warnings displayed: TPMS, brake system hold, brake system performance, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control x2, electric power steering, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation. This incident constitutes as CHILD ENDANGERMENT in the state of NC. I am terrified and afraid to drive this vehicle, because if in the event of an emergency the doors/car could malfunction AGAIN and we would not be able to exit the vehicle. Surprisingly, I took my car the next morning to a scheduled diagnostics appointment with my certified Honda dealership and they failed to identify the problem. This experience is very anxiety provoking and overwhelming to know that the one thing that is supposed to protect us and keep us safe is the one thing that failed us. Someone needs to hold Honda accountable before this defect results in bodily harm/injury and/or death. This is something that should be taken seriously as Honda has had known problems with the body control modules and safety mechanisms. I would like for NHTSA to conduct a causation survey for failure of safety mechanisms. I would like an update after investigations have been conducted. Sincerely, Terror stricken and perplexed mom.

07/28/2023 - Car showed many brake system errors: electric parking brake, vehicle stability, adaptive cruise control, etc. Took to Heritage Honda, Bel Air, MD, and got error code diagnosis of PI20-00, brake system/pedal simulator failure. Heritage "reflashed" pedal simulator and cleared code. Told OK to drive but if brake system errors showed up again, pull over to side of road and have car towed. Drove 20+ miles home. 07/29/2023 - Car again showed brake system errors as on 07/28. Husband and I drove car around our development and there were no brakes, even after husband pumping and pushing down on brake pedal very hard. 07/31/2023 - Flat bed towed car to Martin Honda, Newark, DE and got same error code. Paid to replace brake pedal simulator, PN 01469-TWA-A56. Issue is that brake system did not fail safely, because failure of pedal simulator left me with no brakes. Requested Honda pay entire Martin Honda invoice but Honda paid $1400 of repair. Have since requested that Honda pay remaining $1000 that I paid, plus diagnostic fee for Heritage Honda, and towing charge.

I paid $264.29 to have the switch replaced, only for the lights to cone back on that night. Screen Honda looked over the car and said that they cannot figure out what the issue is, since replacing the switch.

This car brakes on its own. It has done this over and over. Honda claims It has no issues dealer has always serviced it replaced things but it brakes on the freeway, its just shuts down nothing I can do. I reported when it began to happen I even filed a report and sent letter to Honda USA. It last did it a few weeks ago on an expressway near my home. First time it ever did it on the street its always been freeways. I have documented emails to dealer, Honda corporate VM. No one is helping this car is not safe. It is not a made up thing. This car brakes on its own. It beeps signals when it does. It does not move it just shuts down. I have not been hit but know it will one day happen. On March 22, 2022, while at a stop light the brake pedal started going towards floor. As I was driving, the brake light system came on and went off a couple of times. I called the dealership and the car was taken in on Saturday, March 26th, 2022. When they moved the car, they told me the brakes felt squishy. On Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, I received a call from dealership. I was told the car didn't throw any codes and Honda would not let them fix the brake booster. I was then told, my Accord had a test booster put on it by Honda. I was never notified of this before purchasing car. Had I been told, I would not have bought car. I was told this is normal for the brake system to do, per Honda of North America. If this is normal, how come it started 2 weeks ago and not 3 years ago?? There is something wrong with the brakes on this car and I would like the booster to be replaced. I've been in contact with Stirling Honda in Longview WA who tried to get Honda to approve booster replacement. I've also been in contact with Honda of Burlington, WA as they called to see if I was going to return car or buy it(I'm leasing). Honda of Burlington has been less than helpful. Been told, Honda will not replace and there's nothing wrong with the car. Brake pedal should not be going to floor. When I start car, brake pedal will go to approximately 1" from floor. I've also had issues with car braking on Freeway...there isn't a car in front of me. I have a picture of brake pedal going to floor while my car is parked in my driveway. It is on my cell phone and am not able to attach to this complaint. Can email if needed.
