Re: Two Honda Fuel Pump Recalls in 10 Months In 60 years of driving, I never had a recall on a car until February 2024. In the past 10 months, I have had 2 Hondas recalled for life-threatening fuel pump issues. 1) In 2019, I purchased my first Honda, a Civic. 2) In February, 2024, I received a recall on the 2019 Honda Civic for an improperly constructed fuel pump. I was told the car could just stop - and cause an accident in highway driving. I was also told the replacement part for the fuel pump would not be available until the fall of 2024, at least 6 months later. I did not feel safe driving that car so I traded it into Lia Honda in Northampton, MA for a new 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid. 3) On December 16, 2024, I received a recall on the fuel pump for the new Honda Accord which stated that -??due to improper production, the high-pressure fuel pump may crack and leak fuel-?? which -??in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire, crash or injury.-?? From the recall notice-??the replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle currently are not available-??-?? Once again, I owned a Honda that would be life-threatening to drive. Because of Honda-??s improper fuel pump production, I had to buy my second new car in 10 months. I have a new car - not a Honda. What kind of quality control does Honda have??

I was driving at about 40 mph and the car lost all power and stopped in the middle of the road. Most all of the warning lights were on like low air pressure, reduced brakes and a brake problem light etc. Turned the car off and restarted and drove another 5 miles with the brake problem light still on. Stopped and restarted car and the brake light went off and all seems normal now. From my reading on Honda Accord Forums it might be a bad ICM unit? Will be contacting a Honda dealer soon.

The Honda dealers do not have the parts to repair the fuel pump recall...and they have no idea when or if they will receive the parts...very frustrating since this was a brand new car purchase

I received a recall notice yesterday for my car, [XXX]. I called 3 dealerships in my area today and they all say they don't know when parts will be available. And how am I supposed to use my car now if they have no responsibility for what may happen. There is no date when I can check and replace the recalled part. I have called bill page Honda 6715 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22042 and called a couple other dealerships no one knows when they will receive the parts and be able to check if there is a problem and replace the recalled part. I am writing to let you know that 10/2/2024 my 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport had sudden loss of drive-line power while I was traveling on the highway at 75mph. I was able to safely coast/navigate to the shoulder and stop. Steering and braking systems were normal. The car would not drive or restart once stopped. A tow truck was called to tow my car to the nearest Honda dealer to be fixed. There were no warning lights or sounds prior to this incident. Dealer determined root cause of problem was PCM not communicating with charging system. The PCM was replaced under warranty and my car was ready for pickup 10/18/2024

2024 Honda Accord EX 11th generation Due to poor design and engineering and the use of low-quality plastic pipes to carry gas fuel vapor to the (evap system) and brake fluid to the braking system, these pipes have resulted in safety issues, both involving the possible loss of braking and high chances of fire when they are compromised. All these pipes run parallel to the exhaust system, which gets extremely hot. Due to the plastic brake, gas line, and evap line being exposed to road hazards, it's allowed direct contact with road debris, in which I encountered in my 2024 Honda Accord EX Turbo. The Honda engineering team should have known, reasonably expected leaving such thin plastic pipes exposed under the undercarriage of the car would most likely result in costly repairs in which they would, therefore, deny any responsibility for damages occurring. The local Honda dealership can't repair these damaged pipes due to liability issues. The pipes can't be coupled together, so the entire length of these pipes must be replaced at a cost of $7,035.52. American Honda has calculated the repair time and charges for any necessary work need, these charges are universal throughout all Honda dealerships in the United States. Due to car being under warranty one is unable to seek repairs elsewhere without violating the the 3 year/ 36000 factory warranty for other covered parts. Having to report and claim such damages on my auto insurance policy shouldn't be an option. An insurance company shouldn't have to pay to replace damaged fuel and brake lines due to the poor engineering of an auto manufacturer. The financial burden on owners is significant, and having such issues as this increases all our insurance costs. This could have resulted in me losing brakes and fire starting as both exposed fluid lines run parallel to the exhaust and have no cover/ guard to aid in protection. I've contacted American Honda, they absolutely refuse to accept any responsibility for damages.

I started smelling gas getting in and out and near the car. I checked under the car when I first started smelling it and for maybe a couple more days before it had an appointment for PDR repair at body shop. I wasn-??t seeing gas. I had night dropped the car at the body shop and when they smelled it they called and asked if they could take it to Honda of Lincoln for me. They said it was a puncture, denied warranty coverage (not a defect) and sent info to me to send to Honda Corporate who they told me to call - they wanted $5,000 to pull the engine and drop the rear end to feed a new line in with the idea that Honda might offer assistance. Honda is trying to settle with me - I-??m holding out though - part of the settlement would be I don-??t get to keep the line - I keep thinking about how I was smelling it for some days before any was visible on the ground - as if it started very small and grew - even now (it-??s been parked) if you put the line under pressure after you shut it off it will only leave about an 8 inch spot which is an incredibly small amount of gas. I made an appointment for next week at another shop- I want to keep it and get it looked at by some university professor who knows something about plastics and find out for sure if this is a defect or not -Actually I should clarify that what I term a settlement they characterize as assistance in the form of them absorbing a portion of the repair costs, but they still say I can-??t keep the line.

Sudden Loss of power. All warnings on. Limp mode only. Brought to dealer with brake system problem message. Restarted hours later and okay with no codes. Now worry on freeway about being rear ended if it happens again. Went from 70 to 20 all at once.

Car has 4800 miles. I've owned since new (5 months). No issues prior to this. Stopped a stoplight. The gas engine stopped running, which is typical for a hybrid when not moving. After 15 seconds, every warning/error message started cycling on the driver's dashboard screen, referencing "brake system malfunction" among many other failures. Pressing the gas pedal and there was no forward movement. Brakes still worked. Put in park. Pressed "Start" to shut down car. It didn't fully shut down (dash still lit up). Pressed Start again, still many errors but car would move. Drove immediately home. After 2 hours, pressed Start again and no errors. After 2 days of no driving, got appointment with local Honda Dealer Service. Drove it carefully and had no issues. After two additional days of evaluation, Honda says it's the ignition control module (part# 5k80030BA06). They had to keep the car longer to allow regional Honda rep to inspect and document the car's issue, as they said this issue is becoming a trend. Lastly, they told me it could take 6 months to get the part, due to a "national backorder" but offered no options/alternatives. Said car is unsafe to drive. This is unacceptable and I hope is investigated. This is a very dangerous issue. Had I been driving, it could have been far worse result. Attached is a photo of 1 of the many error messages that rotated on the dashboard.
