Accord Crosstour EX-L 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Crosstour started rumbling on acceleration and braking. Originally had brakes replaced and tune-up. Problems still existed. Mechanic indicated it was the front right axle. Mechanic order non-oem part as the original was not available. non-oem part did not fit right so the mechanic sent it back and requested an eta on the oem part. The dealer indicated there was a big demand on the part and currently about 2 months out. In the meantime, I still drive the vehicle but it rattles and shakes on acceleration and braking. Called Honda dealer that confirmed backorder with no eta on part. Called Honda CS and opened case with D. Mendoza and rep confirmed backorder but advised that I need to have dealership put in request. He acknowledged that I would have to pay for inspection and could possibly offer a discount on the part. I advised that with this many people searching for the same part that the part should be considered defective and wondered why recall did not exist. Mr. Mendoza was not sympathetic to any of my concerns and repeated the vehicle is out of warranty.

High number of owners with similar part defect, indefinite back order- sounds like a recall or class action?
