CR-V LX 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,386 miles

The driver's door window actuator failed. I bought the actuator online and replaced it myself using a YouTube video to direct me. The cost of the actuator was $160. Probably would have cost $500 with installation at a Honda dealer.

CR-V

The motor on my driver's side door crapped out so I couldn't open the door if it was locked and my window wouldn't work.

yet more odd happenings. the driver side window switch started to work oddly. you'd push down and when let go the window would go back up. the hazard lights stopped working. the cig lighter port stopped working as well.

took it in thinking i had an extended warranty. turns out the Honda dealership off Route 78 in New Jersey, near Pensy, had mislead us to think we were buying a Honda warranty. Turns out we had some 3rd party warranty company and initially would not cover anything. Took a bunch of fighting and arguing just to get them to cover a fraction of the costs to fix the issues. I said $250 but think it was more since don't recall dollar amount.

I complained to the dealer about the misrepresentation and was looking for just the Honda warranty I purchased. They said we bought what we bought and would not do anything more.

I then contacted Honda corp regarding the situation. This was escalated to some regional VP of the NY tri-state area. I filled him on the details and said I only wanted the Honda warranty I had and even was willing to pay for any difference....I am reasonable. He laughed at me. Yes, he did literally laugh at me. I was quite taken back by this among being appalled anyone would behave this way to a customer. I told him not only did they lose a customer for life but also would tell everyone I know who owns a Honda. He said go ahead and hung up.

Wow.
