Purchased 2004 Honda CRV ex 8/04. Upon filling the gas tank, gas spurts out while pulling out the nozzle from the tank. I've had gas land on my legs and quite a puddle on the ground. Talked with services advisors at Honda twice about it and was told they've never heard of such a thing -- try holding the nozzle in for 3 seconds after filling -- should take care of the problem -- it didn't! this problem occurs every time you fill up. The only time it doesn't is when you don't put the nozzle all the way into the filling neck. Seems a vacuum is made when you do and upon retracting the nozzle it releases and gas spurts out. I reported this again to a service advisor at Honda 8/05 and I've been requested to bring the vehicle in on 8/19/05 to take a look at it. I noticed one other complaint about this issue on your website. Whatever happened to their concern?

Have a 2004 CRV. Started overflowing when filling up with gas 3 months after purchase. Have been working with one, then another dealership for 8 months with no resolution other than my time wasted and them trying to build one car over one piece at a time. American Honda was notified at the beginning & has done nothing to resolved the problem. (extreme incompetence there) I have run into other people at gas stations with the same problem. Want to know how many more are out there that are not being addressed by Honda or the NHTSA. This is a safety hazard. I don't know why it will take someone's car on fire at a gas station before anyone will do something about this.

During fueling of vehicle, 1 to 2 seconds after pump automatically stops, fuel spills out of filler tube. Even upon removing gas pump handle, fuel can be seen flowing out of filler tube for several seconds, down the side of the car and onto the ground. Estimate 4 to 8 ounces total. Potential fire and environmental hazard. Occurs about 50% of the time the car is fueled, and has occured at different gas stations.

Just purchased a Honda CR-V (new). When the gas tank is filled up at the pump there is gas spillage following the automatic shutoff of the pump. The amount is approx. 2 to 4 oz of fuel. This could cause a fire and is also an air pollution source. This spillage occurs every time I fill up the tank. This must be corrected. Is there currently a recall"?? am I the only one with this problem??? will this get fixed??? who should I contact next??"
