On 2010 January 04 at 15:00 I was driving West in my 2005 Honda CR-V on the NY state thruway in the left lane, when at mile marker 233.3 I received a head concussion from the side curtain airbag, which inflated but did not deflate. I was unconscious for some time, and I do not remember subsequent events. My car suffered extensive damage to the left front suspension, but no other people or vehicles were involved. The police arrived and arranged to have my car towed to a repair shop in oriskany, NY, and I was taken to a motel. Ten days later the repairs were completed, and the defective side curtain airbag was preserved by the repair shop.

2006 Honda CRV hit the guardrail on the left side of the car (the fast lane). When it hit the guardrail the side air bags deployed but did not protect the head, instead it squeezed the head into the window (deployed down, but bag went over the head like a tent ).

While I was making a right hand turn into my subdivision, both of my side curtain airbags went off. There was no indication that this was about to happen, no damage to the car, no change in driving circumstances that would obviously trigger the airbags to deploy. I was able to drive the 100 yards home. I sustained minor injuries including air bag burn to left upper arm and temporary loss of hearing to the left ear. I subsequently developed a headache. I have been told by the manufacturer to have the car evaluated by a dealership, but that they would not cover the cost of towing at this time.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda CR-V. the SRS light began flashing. The contact called the dealer twice and was informed that it was not a serious issue and should not worry. She did not realize at the time that the vehicle was at the end of warranty. When the SRS light illuminated again and remained lit, the contact called the dealer a third time and was informed that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. NHTSA campaign id number 04V526000 (air bags:side/window) was referenced. The current mileage was 22,749 and failure mileage was 22,000. Updated 06/02/08 the consumer stated the dealership acknowledges speaking with them in reference to the SRS system popping on at times in January and paying to diagnose vehicle at dealership.
