Car begins to accelerate when in park or when my foot is not on the accelerator. Car also reads several codes relating to vsa, vtec, etc however when I bring it to get checked, new codes pop up relating to similar issues.

Vsa stopped working bad traction on wet roads car jerks unexpectedly
- Canyon Country, CA, USA
I was driving and all of the sudden the car starting acting strange - acceleration was very weak, steering was heavy, and when I was stopped car would nearly stall. Engine light came on, which was alarming. I took car into Honda dealer and after doing some research they said I needed a software update due to a glitch in the initial software and charged me $224 which I was not happy to pay. This is clearly a defect in their car software since I didn't do anything that would have affected their car software. It could have been very dangerous had the loss of acceleration occurred on the freeway, threatening my safety and the safety of others.

Vsa and exclamation sign lights lit on dashboard while driving in dry conditions. Brought to dealer and informed the vsa modulator had failed and would need to be replaced...at a cost of $2682. My search indicates that this part fails quite a bit on Honda and needs to be made recalled since its a safety related item.

Vsa module failed along with the ABS. Called Honda usa and they admitted that it was a safety issue but did not care and hung up on me. Dealer charged $2400 to fix. Car had only 88,000 miles. We were told we could keep driving the car.

I have a 2006 Honda CRV with less than 40000 miles. Upon starting the car the vsa and ABS indicator lights came on and would not go off until the engine was turned off. There were no accidents or any noticeable problems with the vehicle while driving on city street under good conditions as we took car to the Honda dealer, and was told the vsa module needed to be replaced at the cost of $2,600. Plus pus a charge of $110. For diagnostic test which had to be done. I feel this should be a safety issue, and should warrant a recall. Thanks Honda for all your support. Buy american

I own a 2006 CRV with under 33000 miles, I take very good care of this vehicle as I'm the original owner. So all of a sudden while driving on the highway my vsa, ABS, engine, tps (triangle explanation point symbol) and brake light come on. I take it to the dealer and I'm told the vsa module needs replacing! costing $2400. Wow! that's expensive. I think this part should be investigated considering the severity! this part is vital and how has $2400 burning a whole in there pocket? please help! this is so frustrating!

The vsa and ABS lights on my 2006 CR-V came on upon starting and stayed on until the engine was stopped. This happened every time the car was started. My Honda dealership diagnosed the problem to be a faulty ABS modulator unit. The stated replacement cost is $2,400, including labor. I feel that this defect is essential in ensuring the overall safety of this car. The weight of the car is significant enough that an uncontrolled skid is much more likely to end in disaster than a skid that is stopped with the vsa and ABS function working properly. Living in central Ohio, the ABS and vsa functions are used frequently - especially in the winter. These key safety features were a top priority in my decision to buy this car. While the car's life expectancy is touted to be around 300,000 miles, it is unforgivable for such a significant safety function to fail at only 102,000 miles. I feel that Honda should recall these cars and replace the vsa modulator unit entirely at Honda's expense. And for those of us who have already paid for the repair - reimburse the full amount of the repair! the car without vsa and ABS is not at all the same "as advertised" when sold new!

ABS and vsa lights came on. Took the vehicle to dealer and was told the ABS modulator needed replacing. My cost would be $2450. Since this component controls brakes and stability it seems to me to be a safety issue and therefore subject to a recall.

The vsa and exclamation light came on one day right when I started the car and has never turned off. My mileage was approximately 44,000 miles. Took it to the Honda dealer and confirmed the ABS module needs to be replaced. Part+labor = $2400+ (excluding tax). Called U.S. Honda manufacturer and they will pay 25% for the part. That still is expensive. I'm reading off on the web that countries in the uk and Canada, that Honda has paid the part in full. Here in the U.S. they don't recognize this as a defect. This part is a huge safety issue. A local mechanic says I should not drive this where it snows. If there's sand, the car will be stuck. Another mechanic said there could be a short. Honda manufacturer never advised me of this or if it's safe to drive or should be replaced right away. Coming from family who buys mostly Honda's, I will not buy another Honda again. I was looking at a Odyssey, but saw it had a huge vsa issue as well. Sometimes I wonder if it was an electrical issue because a few times the cruise control light turns on once the car is turned on. Have never used cruise control. Never driven in bad weather and avoid heavy rain. Driven only few times per week and carefully in mostly local short distances.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda CR-V. while driving approximately 45 mph, the ABS and stability control warning indicators illuminated. The triangle exclamation icon also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that the vsa modulator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

The anti-lock brake system (ABS) vehicle stability assist (vsa) warning lights suddenly came on. I immediately took the vehicle to the Honda dealer (grappone Honda, bow, nh) who inspected the vehicle and they indicated that the ABS modulator control unit had a defective internal valve and failed. The dealer indicated that the car ABS system was no longer operational, and this also disabled the vsa (vehicle stability) system, thus making the Honda CR-V more susceptible to roll-overs. The dealer indicated that New Hampshire department of safety is currently contemplating requiring ABS system operation to pass annual safety inspections, but that the Honda CR-V could currently be driven without an operational ABS braking system. The Honda dealer indicated it would cost $2,050 to repair the ABS modulator control unit and that it would take days to order the part and further additional days to schedule repair once the part was at the dealer. I reviewed safercar.gov information and discovered that this Honda ABS/vsa system problem has occurred on other Honda Cr-vs. An assessment of available internet information indicated approximately 55 cases of Honda ABS modulator control unit failures. Since ABS (and vsa) is so central to safe car operation, I ask that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration act to address this recurrent Honda CR-V braking system ABS modulator internal defect. This is particularly important in light of the ABS/vsa system's impact on Honda CR-V braking and stability safety. Sudden failure (warning lights) of ABS and vsa systems. Car becomes difficult to handle during shifting gears. 2006 Honda CRV less than 90,000 miles. This is a safety issue with the car. Many complaints about this on the internet. Please investigate.

I incorrectly put the car into drive 1. I noticed my mistake and changed the transmission to drive. The car's computer put the vehicle in full throttle. I braked and put the transmission into neutral and the RPM gauge showed the car to be in full throttle. I had to turn off the vehicle and everything was ok after this incident. I am 100% sure that the computer on this vehicle has some problems.

Vsa/ABS modulator failure. Vsa/ABS and vsa exclamation point all came on at once for no apparent reason and would not go out. Certified Honda dealer did a diagnostic which showed the modulator failure.....so essentially a major component of my braking system failed. A replacement cost of $1500!!!! vehicle is well cared for, I avoid inclement weather (ie: Snow/ice etc.) when possible and I can count on two hands the amount of times the vsa has kicked on since first purchasing the vehicle in 2006 (brand new). As for my ABS I'm not an aggressive driver so my ABS haven't been used as much either. The vsa/ABS module should not have failed as it did.

1) April 5, 2010: Forty-five minutes into the drive, my gas tank (which was half full) dropped below empty in just one second. I could feel the engine shutting down on the highway. I was in the left hand lane driving in heavy traffic. At this point, I knew that I needed to pull over and get help. Unfortunately, the cars behind me were passing me on the right hand side not allowing me to get over. I knew that if someone would not let me over into the right hand lane, I was going to die along with others that would crash into me. Fortunately, god created an opening. At this opening, I merged onto an exit ramp for me to realize I don't have any brakes at all. I went into panic and fight mode. I was an inch away from slamming into a pole and tipping over a little cliff when I slammed the car into park position in order to stop my car. 2) failure: Loss of control, engine shutting down, loss of brakes on the highway consequences: Almost lost my life and could've easily killed others on the highway this is the first time this particular engine problem occurred, but this is not the first engine problem. 3) car was brought to the closest Honda dealership. Several scans done. They couldn't figure out the problem. 4) towed car from that dealership to my original dealer. This Honda CR-V bought brand new is currently with my original dealer. They are trying to figure out the defect.
