The car had not been driven since 6PM. At 3AM it burst into flames. This was not arson or vandalism. Fire started in engine compartment and consumed entire front of car in 10 or so. See attached picture. Luckily it was parked in front of my house, not in the garage, or my house would be gone.
This 2006 had been well taken care of. One owner, and has had all regular service performed at Honda dealerships.
I had intended to drive this car for another 10 years...
I have reported this to the Department of Transportation and, of course, to my insurance company. I understand there is a pending class action against Honda, but that seems to concern fires that started as the result of improper installation of a gasket after the first oil change. That is not the case here...
