Car begins to accelerate when in park or when my foot is not on the accelerator. Car also reads several codes relating to vsa, vtec, etc however when I bring it to get checked, new codes pop up relating to similar issues.

Unintended acceleration. Accelerating from a stoplight, the engine suddenly went to maximum throttle. The accelerator pedal had no effect, and the floor mat was well clear of the pedal. Pushing hard on the brake had little effect. Finally turned off the engine and coasted to the side of the road. City road where two lanes in our direction merge to one. Speed limit 40 mph; heavy traffic. Narrowly avoided colliding with car ahead. Car then towed to Honda dealer, and is awaiting evaluation by district manager.

Car was being driven with cruise control set and it stalled while driving and refused to stay running until it sat over night. Next morning blowby is coming through dipstick. Car did not over heat while driving.

Unintended acceleration in our 2006 Honda CR-V a previous incident on a gravel driveway was quickly controlled and thought of as an anomaly. This time, on the highway, going uphill at 60 mph, attempting to pass, the engine went to full throttle. It would not return, just kept racing. The accelerator pedal would not respond. There was no floor pad involved. The brakes were applied as forcefully as possible. The emergency brake was pulled. It couldn't be shifted to neutral. This happened within a distance of a half-mile, and half-mile further is a signal and cross traffic. Terrified, we wrestled the vehicle off highway onto a side road, and gradually ground to a halt, burning the brakes. With the engine racing, it was put in park and turned off for a minute, then it started and ran normally. Towed to Honda they found nothing wrong even when the district service manager inspected it. We would not drive it anymore. We wouldn't foist this vehicle on any one else except Honda because it is unsafe so we reluctantly traded it in for as new one. Just because Honda can't find out what's wrong does not mean there is nothing wrong. This is the fifth Honda we have owned, but we are not great fans of the brand anymore.

The anti-lock brake system (ABS) vehicle stability assist (vsa) warning lights suddenly came on. I immediately took the vehicle to the Honda dealer (grappone Honda, bow, nh) who inspected the vehicle and they indicated that the ABS modulator control unit had a defective internal valve and failed. The dealer indicated that the car ABS system was no longer operational, and this also disabled the vsa (vehicle stability) system, thus making the Honda CR-V more susceptible to roll-overs. The dealer indicated that New Hampshire department of safety is currently contemplating requiring ABS system operation to pass annual safety inspections, but that the Honda CR-V could currently be driven without an operational ABS braking system. The Honda dealer indicated it would cost $2,050 to repair the ABS modulator control unit and that it would take days to order the part and further additional days to schedule repair once the part was at the dealer. I reviewed safercar.gov information and discovered that this Honda ABS/vsa system problem has occurred on other Honda Cr-vs. An assessment of available internet information indicated approximately 55 cases of Honda ABS modulator control unit failures. Since ABS (and vsa) is so central to safe car operation, I ask that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration act to address this recurrent Honda CR-V braking system ABS modulator internal defect. This is particularly important in light of the ABS/vsa system's impact on Honda CR-V braking and stability safety. Sudden failure (warning lights) of ABS and vsa systems. Car becomes difficult to handle during shifting gears. 2006 Honda CRV less than 90,000 miles. This is a safety issue with the car. Many complaints about this on the internet. Please investigate.

As I was parking my car, it suddenly and without warning lurched forward full throttle out of control over the parking barrier and curb and through a storefront window. I tried to stop it as my foot was on the brake the whole time, but I could not, and it lodged itself into a drywall counter and side wall.(it was later found out that there was a 600 pound safe on the other side of the counter, which probably stopped the car) I shut off the ignition and yelled for help. I was covered in glass and injured my shoulder, neck, upper back and right leg. I had just had the accelerator pedal position sensor and rear brake pads replaced at the Honda dealership 6 days prior to this. My car was maintained there regularly. It is fortunate nobody was killed. The incident was caught on the security tape.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda CR-V. the contact stated was driving 30 mph when the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The contact applied the brake and the brakes did not slow down the vehicle. The contact eventually crashed into another vehicle. The contact suffered knee and chest injuries, and was transported to the hospital. Two other passengers were also injured and transported to the hospital. The contact did not call the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 48,000.

Vsa/ABS modulator failure. Vsa/ABS and vsa exclamation point all came on at once for no apparent reason and would not go out. Certified Honda dealer did a diagnostic which showed the modulator failure.....so essentially a major component of my braking system failed. A replacement cost of $1500!!!! vehicle is well cared for, I avoid inclement weather (ie: Snow/ice etc.) when possible and I can count on two hands the amount of times the vsa has kicked on since first purchasing the vehicle in 2006 (brand new). As for my ABS I'm not an aggressive driver so my ABS haven't been used as much either. The vsa/ABS module should not have failed as it did.

Original owner of 2006 Honda CR-V with 43,500 miles and automatic transmission. Upon entering garage at residence, experienced sudden acceleration resulting in vehicle lurching forward into garage striking partially closed garage door and hitting rear concrete block wall of garage with sufficient force to dislodge wall and activate driver's side air bag. Driver suffered moderate burns to right arm from air bag deployment. Vehicle sustained severe front end damage. Am concerned that even if vehicle can be repaired, possibility of another similar event is troubling. I hope Honda will investigate this accident and report its findings.

We experience sudden acceleration with our Honda CRV 2006. It is an intermittent problem and can happen at varying speeds on highway or streets. We have no floor mats by the way. When we drive to the dealership they keep telling us there is nothing they can do to help us. "since everything is computerized the car must be doing the actual sudden acceleration when you bring it in, " we were told. We find this unacceptable and felt it wise to report to you. How can we get help? national Honda customer center said the same thing to us.

I parked in my office parking garage spot just as I normally do. I pulled in the spot going very slowly, and even though I am completely convinced that my foot was on the brake as I turned into the parking spot, once the car was in the spot, the car suddenly without any warning or reason surged forward and crashed into a concrete beam that was right in front of my parking spot. I am sure there was nothing I did to cause this. The weather was very cold that day, and that is the only thing that was different from the numerous other days I have parked in the same parking garage without incident. The car did not skid forward, because there was no ice, and I had a very distinct sensation of the car engine revving up on its own when it accelerated. I was bruised where the seat belt was positioned across my chest, but otherwise I was okay. The car sustained approximately $8,000 in damages.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda CR-V which was purchased in 2007. She stated that while attempting to park and after the vehicle came to a complete stop, the vehicle lunged forward and crashed into a cement wall; although, her foot remained on the brake pedal. The crash caused severe front end damage and there was smoke under the hood. The contact stated that the smoke was due to radiator damage. The VIN was not available. The vehicle was towed to the closest collision shop to have the vehicle repaired. The failure and current mileages were under 23,000.
