I saw a Power Train: Automatic Transmission: Control Module (TCM,PCM) Recall but my VIN # was not on it and it should have been. Recall Announced August 04, 2011 NHTSA Reference # 11V395000 with 1,512,107 affected.

Had my vehicle fully serviced in Honda Service at 10000 and 22000 miles. Growling noise began in rear wheel area but I simply thought it was wide low profile tyres on tarmac especially when on full lock either direction. Brother in law has previous model CRV and told me he had a similar problem but his Honda service garage had changed oil in rear differentials. I contacted my garage/Honda to complain but was told it was not normal to change the diff. oil. Told me it would be £96 to have this done. I complained to the service manager who authorized the oil be changed FOC. No problem now. I am told there has been a problem with the oil which Honda has been using in the diffs. at factory. I would have thought Honda should ensure their Honda service agents pay particular attention to this matter.

Started to hear a huming, whinning noise from transmission. Brought the car to my dealer babylon honda on long island. Was told by the service rep that it was normal wear and tear and i should not be concerned but a record has been made if it continues to worsen,( which it has.). Brought the car back again about 68000 miles and informed them that the noise is getting worse. Again was told that it's normal and not to worry. I did not like the response so i opened a complaint file with Walter at customer service for honda. Walter , a very professional and nice rep suggested i bring the car to another dealer which i did. The service manager at honda city, Mark was very helpful and test drove the car and said he would like for the area service rep from honda to look at it as well. Made an appointment the day that the area service rep was scheduled to come in and unfortunately mark was out that day and was not able to what i feel make my case for assistance as well as should be because he had all the history on the car. Never the less they tried but the area sevice rep which has final say actually suggested that i must have gotten stuck in the snow and ruined the tranny.Let me assure all who read this that this crv has never been stuck in the snow or used in any fashion other than what the crv 's intended use. They found metal filings and pieces in the fluid and although it still shifts, failure is eminent for sure. The cost is $3300 for tranny?????.
My gripe is with the original dealership for blowing smoke my way and not trying to do the right thing by there customer and with the area service rep for suggesting i ruined the transmission by getting stuck in the snow. What a cop out for sure!!!!. I did not purchase the extended service plan because i heard that the hondas where good for 200plus k. had Babylon Honda Tried to help when the noise fist started and had the area rep come down for an evaluation i feel that i would have been offered assistance by honda. At that time it was only a couple of thosand out of warranty, approx 62500.
My opinon is that any car that can't last for 100k without tranny or engine failure is not woth considering. This is not to say that Honda's are junk. Every so often failures do occur but i feel strongly that the quality customer oreinted dealerships and manufactures try do the right thing. I understand that the original power train warranty is 60k . If a failure starts happening shortly there after and is documented i feel that a consumer oreinted company should make the customer happy and retain that customer for future purchases. My salesman John at babylon honda was great and i would highly recommend but the service dept really dropped the ball big time with me.

The transmission growled when in reverse or backing. Called Honda. They said I needed to replace the Differential Fluid. They replaced and it went away for 12,000 more miles. Took in and they said they couldn't hear it. Did a 15,000 mile check and said they replaced the differential Fluid again. Noise stopped. 28,000 miles. Growl is back big time. Took it to I-79 Honda and they said needed brakes turned. Cost $200. Growl back. Taking it back on 11-27-09 for ANOTHER rear diff Fluid change. Cost $50. Say not warranty.

This is my first Honda CR-V, but not my first SUV or 4 wheel drive. Just a few weeks ago I started noticing a sound when I backed up or was pulling out and turning. It sounded as if in a 4x4 locked in on pavement. I've made an appointment to have it checked later this week. I will report on the findings.

I had a slight growling when I was backing up and turning.I thought it was just a minor glitch, new vehicle and all. However, it continued to get worse and worse. I finally called the dealership and told them of the problem. I was told that they were already warned by Honda that they should expect getting calls on this matter. They told me to come in and they would fix it. I was upset that they know there was a problem with the new CR-Vs and failed to let the customers know that they should schedule a appointment to remedy the situation.
I took my vehicle in to be repaired and they told me that it would take a couple of hours. When I returned to pick up my vehicle, I was told that the problem was not fixed and that they had to wait on parts. They said that they did, however, confirm that the problem was the rear clutch assembly. They know this when I made the appointment, so I would like to know why I wasted my time taking the vehicle in when they already knew that they didn't have the parts to fix it yet.

I have had a problem with my 2007 Honda CRV transmission. The growling noise is terrible. I took the car in and had the trans fluid replaced and the transmission checked.. The mechanic couldn't find any problem. I drove the car the net weekend about 70 miles and the growling noise is still there. Don't know what to do.
