problem #1

CR-V 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission

During the last three cold weather spells (temperatures below 32F) the windshield washer nozzle is freezing up and will not work. As a result the salt spray covers the windshield and significantly impairs visibility. I took the CR-V to the Honda dealership service department and was informed that there are a number of people with the same complaint. Per the service representative, not only are the nozzles freezing, but also the washer hoses leading to the nozzles under the hood are frozen as well. He indicated that there was nothing that I could do to prevent this from happening. I believe that this is a design flaw since I have had other Honda vehicles that did not have the same problem. In fact, none of the other cars that I have previously owned had this problem. When I questioned about a recall, I was informed that there was none for this particular problem. Yesterday, I was nearly involved in a major car pile-up due to the impaired visibility during an ice storm. I am greatly concerned about the hazards that this problem presents. I would like for the Honda company to initiate a recall to fix this possible manufacturing defect before a fatality occurs.
