A/C compressor in 2007-2011 Honda CR-V has a known defect in the A/C compressor clutch. The clutch component of the compressor includes the pulley which turns the compressor motor. When the clutch fails, the compressor motor seizes up and stops the pulley from turning. The pulley on the compressor is driven by one serpentine belt on a tensioner which turns the alternator, the power steering motor, the crankshaft, the water pump, and the A/C compressor. When the A/C compressor seizes up, the belt will snap in two every time because the A/C pulley will not turn. The car will not be operable unless the A/C compressor is replaced. To replace the A/C compressor, the refrigerant must be vacuumed out, the condenser and desiccant replaced, the compressor replaced, the system recharged, and a new belt put on. This costs about $2500 at Honda or at another shop around $1700. Honda refused to fix the clutch when I took my car in after discovering the A/C was not working. I have replaced the compressor in this vehicle twice already, and now it needs a third replacement. It is a safety issue because the belt will break while driving causing power steering to go out, possibly causing a crash, the battery will not charge, leaving you stranded, the water pump will not function causing your engine to overheat, and possibly causing a blown head gasket or worse. This situation has occurred twice already but I-??m reporting the latest one.

Honda body shop switched and stripped components/ parts of my vehicle when State Farm Adjustor wrote the repair assessment like it was in a high speed head on collision when it was actually a left side fender bender. That-??s fraud-?? but nonetheless, State Farm agreed to fix the car. It-??s a Honda CR/V that has had the engine replaced now but it-??s having drivetrain issues. It rattles and violently vibrates upon takeoff (Automatic transmission) and when going uphill. It has electrical problems due to rodent chewing soy based electrical wires. I-??ve replaced myself many components such as axle CV, electrical, fans, air conditioner, starters (3 in past two years) and basically had to rebuild the entire front end because the Honda body shop was using my car for a parts car. Curry Honda in Chamblee GA. Honda has refused to acknowledge any issues. 2008 Honda CR-V has drivetrain issues probably related to the software which Honda charges $150-200 every time just to clear a code. They don-??t work with 3rd party parts providers and like Apple, are monopolizing their car company making it unsafe to take your car anywhere but to a Honda dealer for things as simple as an oil change. They want you to get your battery and fluids there, refusing to share specs with anyone else. This should be illegal as Apple recently has had lawsuits for trying to monopolize their screen replacement and repairs. Trying to get customers to only go to Apple for repair, rendering your phone useless unless you pay Apple again for repairs. Honda company is not customer focused, the dealers are out to make money off every single thing the car needs and their system is designed for no DIYers to fix much at all.

Hello Sir/Madam, I own 2008 HONDA CR V. Yesterday when I tried to start my car, I head loud abnormal loud noise and the MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT LIT ON the dash board. Since the noise was very abnormal and very loud, I decided not to drive the car. Next, I searched on internet to see if other Honda owners have same issue. I went to https://owners.honda.com/servicemaintenance/recalls?id= website and found the following. HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. SAFETY RISK: THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THERISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF AROL LING VEHICLE. Then I called AutoNation Honda O'Hare dealer in Des Plaines, IL and explained my issue. I was told by the dealership that my VIN number is not covered in spite of me having exactly the same issue as described in HONDA'S RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER R89 and that I will have to pay for the diagnosis and repair. Next I called American Honda corporation and explained my issue. I was told that my VIN number is not covered in spite of me having exactly the same issue as described in HONDA'S RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER R89 and that I will have to pay for the diagnosis. This is serious SAFETY ISSUE and American Honda Corporation is putting my safety as risk.

There is a violent shaking feeling coming from the engine area along with a loud constant rattling sound coming from the same area. This happens when driving and when stationary. The dealership said it was a tensioner (?) arm and charged me $580. The sound persists and is worse when the air conditioner is running. Also the back seat passenger side lock makes a loud buzzing noise when locked or unlocked.

Car "jerks" or slips when going uphill. Reported to mcminnville Honda, mcminnville, Oregon 97128 beginning of 2016. Service manager said unable to duplicate "jerking" or slipping action when going uphill. Told me to contact Honda customer service, which I have done twice now. My Honda care warranty expires tomorrow, 10/11/16. Now I have to worry that after tomorrow my dealership will find the "jerking" or slipping problem and I will be handed a huge bill which I cannot pay. My 2008 CR-V has 95,000 miles on it currently and I was told "you will get about 200,000 miles on this car by the salesman" who sold me this car! I am 70 years old and on a fixed income and cannot afford an expensive repair. I have discussed this with Honda customer service and my dealership and now I am desperate. I paid over $1200. For the Honda care warranty and now I am "being held up" by the threat of not being told there is something wrong and now that your warranty has ended you are on the hook for a problem you first reported in the beginning of the year! could this be caused by the transmission or some other part I.e. axel? I was told in 2011 by right Honda, scottsdale, AZ, that Honda care disallowed a problem with the rear axel. Please help me.thank you. The safety recall hotline is closed today for columbus day.

I had driven the car from Florida to NY with my dog. While travelling North on I95 I noticed some intermittent bucking, hard shifting, and going into neutral. It was intermittent so I assumed it was some anomaly. After stopping at my families residence in yonkers NY. I drove the car to riverdale to visit my mother. After leaving the nursing home I proceeded on the return trip to yonkers. I was northbound on the sprain parkway and exited at tuckahoe road. There is a full stop sign at the intersection. I was fully stopped looked both ways an inched out to make a right turn ( the visibility of oncoming traffic in the eastbound direction is limited because of an incline and the road has high traffic volume during the day) I am not certain if the car slipped back into neutral or the individual behind me failed to make a full stop. I was hit rather hard in the rear end. With or without the transmission concern the car behind me did not obey the stop sign. My car was towed to a collision and repair facility. When the technician was assessing damage he performed a road test and found the car hesitating and shifting in and out of gear. He checked the transmission fluids and found them to have a burning smell and be black. I had only had the transmission fluid flushed and changed in January. And prior to that less than 5 months earlier.

Ongoing problem from when I purchased the CR-V in 2010. Many times when shifting into reverse there is an loud, audible clunking as the gears grind. I've been parked next to other CR-V's and noticed the same noise as the CR-V is put into reverse. This must be a common problem. Also the doors were locking and unlocking on their own while I was driving, and I had to have the lock mechanisms on all 4 passenger doors replaced. Lastly there is an annoying whistling noise in the duct work for the heat and A/C. I have to keep the recycle button on to somewhat diminish it.
