I was stopped in my 2012 Honda CR-V at the top of an off-ramp behind a tractor-trailer when my brakes suddenly gave out. My vehicle was moving forward even though it was on an incline. I could not get the CRV to stop so I had to put it in PARK in order to keep from rear-ending the truck in front of me. It freaked me out a bit but when I drove the rest of the way to my destination without further incident I thought it was just a fluke or maybe because I had just had my brakes done the week previous.
Then last week it happened again. Luckily I was in a parking lot with no vehicle in front of me. My CRV again came to a stop in the parking spot and before I could put it in Park the brakes gave out again and I rolled forward onto the grass in front of me. I quickly thru it in PARK to stop. It seems that this is not a one-time thing. It could become a big problem. So far I have been lucky not to hit anyone or anything.
I reported it to Honda Canada but the vehicle is out of warranty so any costs to diagnose the problem will be on me. Will have my mechanic check it first - he is cheaper than the dealership and I trust him.
