When applying the brake, as well as releasing it, when the body is shifting from the pressure there is a creaking noise in the front somewhere. Sounds like body, maybe some sheet metal in fire wall area? I see someone else mentioned they were told may be rear differential... if we have same noise, not that because I've got a front wheel drive only and have it. It's an annoyance and makes the car feel cheap. I had a 2011 CRV that has something similar but 5 times louder and would even do it in turns. I had that one fixed (clamps added to sheet metal in fire wall area) and will eventually see if I can get this one fixed.
