Our daughter was driving the Honda one day to the store, and on her way back the car stalled four times before she made it home. We took the car to the Honda dealer who stated that the problem was rodent ate through the wires and the entire engine wire harness would have to be replaced.
We contacted Honda who said that this was an outside problem and it was not covered under warranty. We also found that their was a class action law suit against Honda - they used soy based material on the wire harness which is attracting the rodents. Honda apparently is aware of this problem, since they have made a rodent repellent tape to cover the wires. However, they will not assist with any part of the repairs - not even to provide the tape or at least assist with the deductible from the insurance company. They were very uncooperative and adamant in
their refusal to assist in any way.
We believe they should be responsible in some way... since was is to prevent the wires from being eaten again?

Went to start my car after not driving it for a day and engine wouldn't turn over - had it towed to dealer - mouse had eaten through the wire harness at the fuel pump connector

Apparently this was a known problem since 2010 for these soy based wired Honda, but no one mentioned this when I contacted the Honda Service, I'd had the car 3 weeks when this occurred, engine light was on and several other lights, car would only run on half power at 45 miles an hour. When we contacted service they had no idea what problem was but sent a tow truck to pick it up since we were 140 miles away. Once they found out they wanted to charge me $800 for the tow that I could have gotten for free if I had know what the problem was and that it was not covered under warrant. Then after I did the research and found out they actually have tape they call "honda tape" , which is sold on Amazon as "Honda Rodent Tape, I contacted them and the the service agent said they were not aware of any rodent tape. I asked to speak to the Service Manager who knew what it was and stated they would put the tape on my car. I thought Honda was known for its service is why I chose this Honda, I know they knew where I was taking the car and they should have warned me or they should go ahead and add this tape to all their cars. I am very disappointed in this dealer and the service.

In 2013, my vehicle had to be repaired after rodents ate through the electrical unit of my car. This was months after purchasing the vehicle, and I was told that this issue was outside of my warranty, so I had to come out of pocket $1,000 to fix this issue. Recently, I learned of a class action suit that had been filed against honda for coating their electrical cords with materials that are known to attract rodents. This has resulted in several car owners experiencing the same issue with rodents eating through their electrical parts. for this reason, I would like to receive reimbursement for the money that I spent fixing an issue that was the result of how the car was manufactured by Honda.

Tried all kinds of deterrents and nothing worked. Used a mouse trap and killed six. Wires shorted out and burned the inside roof liner. Totally frustrated and paying $40 a day for a rental, no help from the dealer.
