On 1/11/2016, on Route 1 S College Park, MD, the weather was clear and the road was dry, at around 1 PM, as my husband was slowing down at an intersection, the Honda suddenly accelerated hard and he nearly hit the car in front of him, but he managed to put it in park and it stopped.
He took it back to Priority Toyota and their diagnostic machine said there was no problem with the vehicle. Believing their assurance, he kept driving the vehicle, then the same sudden acceleration happened again on Wed 1/13/2016 and it happened twice on 1/14/2016. So he did return the vehicle to the dealership and the Sales Manager gave him a 2012 RAV4.
Less than an hour later, when he slowed down to exit from 395 S in Arlington, VA he experienced a hard acceleration and slammed hard on the emergency brake to override it. Then 2-3 miles later, the hard acceleration reoccurred. He then overrode it again by slamming on the emergency brake. Then the battery died and he was stuck in traffic at 6:30 PM. That was the first time in 50 years of driving different vehicles that he was ever stuck in traffic. Unbelievably, Carfax never reported any prior problems with this vehicle's history in its reports.

Coming into our driveway and going left around a tree, the car accelerated and I was headed straight for our fence. I hit the brakes hard and it decelerated and I put it in neutral. I put it in drive, pulled forward a bit and then backed into my space. I was frightened because my dog was standing at the fence as he always does when I come home and if the brakes hadn't stopped the car I would have run into the fence and quite possibly into my dog.

My wife was driving my son to school, when she noticed the accelerator did not respond to taking her foot off of it. She put the car in neutral and pulled over to the side of the road immediately. We had the car towed to the dealership for inspection and remedy. It is still with the dealership.

I would like to share my experience with my HONDA CRV (4WD VTi-L) 2013 model, which is very similar to what all of you have faced. I started my car from its parked position (20Km/hour), took a U turn, I applied the brakes but the car did not stop, the car started to accelerate, hit a parked car on the opposite side of the road, turned around 180 degrees and hit a tree and the compound wall of a property. I finally had to turn off the ignition. I had a similar problem with the brake 1 month after I purchased the vehicle when I could not stop the car while parking on applying the brake and the car stopped only when the ignition was turned off. The car has had its 1 month and 6 months service and no problem was detected during the service.
I am writing from Australia and if anybody has had similar problem in Australia, please contact me. I have reported to Honda Australia and have not heard any response. Do you have any further suggestions?

Unintended Sudden Acceleration While Braking On A Left Turn. Unable to stop, went forward, braked hard on the next street to turn left. Pretty Scary!

This is a very serious safety issue. While driving in stop & go traffic, I was fully stopped with my foot on the brake when suddenly I felt & heard a surge of engine power. My car lurched forward and hit the car in front of me. I could not stop my car's forward momentum.
The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital in an ambulance complaining of head, neck, & back pain. Fortunately I was not injured ~ just badly shaken up. Both cars sustained significant damage. When I reported the situation to the Highway Patrol Officer who responded to the accident, he had me convinced that what I described was impossible.
Thank goodness for www.carcomplaints.com; I was able to find out that other Honda CR-V owners have had the same experience.

the car took off backwards and i could not stop it
I tried to stop the car with my brakes, then I put it in gear, and last I turned off the key and still ended up on my neighbors concrete pot that finally stopped my car. Honda said they couldn't find anything wrong with my car they said it was my fault.
