CR-V V6

I took my 2013 CRV car into my mechanic about the metal grinding noise I hear when I start up the car in the morning. They didn't find any problems, but pulled up a Service Bulletin 09-010 dated Feb. 25, 2017 about the VTC Actuator.

I called Honda Customer Care and the woman said that the warranty covers the period from its original purchase in 2015 for 36K miles. I gave her the Service Bulletin information, but it wasn't in her system. Yet my mechanic pulled up a copy!

Why doesn't Honda cover this part after the 36K miles? I guess they manufacture defective cars!? I bought the car from CarMax in 2020 with 60K miles. I didn't see anything on Consumer Reports website or online about this problem, so I bought the car.

My mechanic gave me the Service Bulletin and told me to see the dealer to get it fixed and suggested I let them diagnose the problem. They didn't look for this problem; instead they fixed the tensioner, drive belt and the serpentine belt for $838. I took it back and gave them the copy of the Service Bulletin. Now, they are asking me to pay parts of $310 and they won't charge me labor. I won't recommend Honda to anyone.
