Transmission on our 2013 Honda CR-V began to surge during light acceleration. Honda dealer said they would replace transmission fluid and if that did not work they would replace the torque convertor for $2,000. I added "Shudder Fix" to the transmission fluid and the problem went away. I called the Sudder Fix company and they said that this is a temporary fix and indicates that the transmission fluid is breaking down and should be replaced. I elected to take it to a private automotive shop and have the complete transmission flush done. Never had a problem after that. We have a 2018 Pilot which started to have the same problem which also went away with a fluid change. The Honda dealer said that they are now recommending more frequent transmission fluid changes on the Pilots. I suspect inferior transmission fluid and/or a design problem which results in overheating.
