WARNING***2014 CRV LX Engine failure at 65900 miles with hardly any warning!

Car was driving perfect, I had neglected to address the rattling upon cold starts, and looking back, I did burn through oil but I was told that by my mechanic when I purchased it with only 33K miles in September 2018 that it burned through oil. He advised me that as long as I changed the oil every 5K miles it should not be an issue... but it became a major issue.

There was absolutely no indication that anything was wrong with my car until the Malfunction Indicator Light started blinking about 250 miles into a 350 mile road trip on Thanksgiving. This was the first time in just over two years of ownership that any warning light besides the tire pressure light had appeared on my dashboard so I immediately pulled to the side of the road and pulled out my owners manual. I realized that if I continued to drive, I would do further damage so I turned on my hazards and drove slowly to exit the highway to a safe location where me and my two dogs nervously waited for AAA to tow my car and a ride to bring us home (still about 100 miles away) in the pouring rain.

Two weeks later and I was given the choice of a $5300.00 engine replacement or trade it in for $5900 towards a new car. I am now the reluctant owner of a 2017 CR V and praying that this faulty spark plug or cylinder was a fluke.
