2015 Honda CRV has gas leak into the oil during cold winter months. The first sign is the oil dipstick showing the levels rising over weeks. This reduces the combustion temp for the oil and eventually results in an explosion that heats up the oil to the point of turning it into sludge and then there is a catastrophic engine failure.
The dealership and Honda could not explain why my engine failed or how the oil turned to sludge. They put a 2nd hand engine in my car and I drive it the same this year as last year. This time I sent a sample of the oil to Blackstone Labs and they confirmed that the oil has over 7% fuel in it and the combustion temperature has dropped in half. This is after only 2,500 miles and two months of use from Dec 2018-Feb 2019. I'm out $4,000 on the original engine cause the maintenance contract refused to pay for any issue that resulted from oil sludge. I'm not going to pay for another engine. We need a resolution to this known problem and someone owes me $4,000 for the first engine.
