Guys, I recently traded in my 07 RAV4 limited with only 93,000km because of several recalls for REAR suspension issues that were recurring and unresolved, plus, getting the run around from Toyota dealers. Then when the front steering developed clunking sounds when turning…I researched & found it was a pretty common problem, so I sadly traded it in for a 2015 Honda CRV around mid-December…
Guess what, a few days after I took it home, I hear clunking coming from the rear suspension every once in a while. Sounding strangely similar to the Toyota one. It's a brand new 2015! It's been very cold in MTL so I will pursue this with the dealer in a couple of weeks when it gets warmer. Stay tuned. In the meantime, if anyone has had similar issues, please share. This time I took a lease so if unresolved I will be happy to return it & move on.
BTW, I have been a Honda customer since the 80's and was very happy with all my other Hondas. I am very surprised of this manufacture defect as I was with Toyota! Is Japanese quality of assembly or engineering going down?
Update from Mar 3, 2016: Ok so I took it to the coveniently located downtown Honda dealer in Montreal about 2 months ago…they test drove it and of course they didnt hear the clunking noise. At least I have the slip on record for when I trade in this leased vehicle…I cant wait. The sound makes it feel like an old used car yet it has less than 13,000 km or 8,000 miles on it.
Most vehicles have pretty shoddy build quality, including high end cars…I guess planned obsolescence ia alive and well!!!
