Like the other complaints I have read, my car is the same. It will brake suddenly when nothing is there. The BRAKE sign will come on for no reason. The dealership says they cannot replicate it, so they will not fix it.

There's random braking on freeway, especially same area each time, straight-a-way; have to press accelerator to avoid excessive slowing. I also had unneeded braking at 25mph curve in road with cars parked along side of it.

I've been complaining about my CR-V for over a year. I'm taking it up to the dealership because the brake light kept coming on and my car would brake on it's own without any cars around! Every time I would take it to the dealership they would tell me nothing is wrong with my car! The last time I took it for this issue they told me it had a system update that needed to be done and that would solve the issue but of course it happened again. The next time it happen all the warning lights started to flash and the car broke again on its own so abruptly that it caused me to injure myself.

I took the car to the dealership again, then I went to the hospital. The dealership said that it was a service bulletin out and that Honda would repair my car, but almost a week later after they repaired my car, it happened again! I've been driving this car for over a year on pins and needles. This is so dangerous for the consumers. Honda should be ashamed for putting peoples' lives at risk! It is clearly a defect or system problem with these cars! Help!!!

CR-V SW

While driving on a road at approximately 45 mph my car suddenly flashed BRAKE and proceeded to automatically brake to an almost full stop, thank goodness no one was behind me. It was an awful “out of control of my vehicle” feeling which caused me to feel that same taste of metal in my mouth feeling I get when you are in an accident. The road was entirely clear of any obstacles or other vehicles and it was an overcast but dry road. I was able to quickly hit the gas and keep going but now am in fear if this happening again. I plan to contact my dealer and bring the car in but decided to check went online to see if anyone else has had this problem and found this site. It terrifies me in reading that others have had this problem and there has been no resolution. Prior to this incident I had noted periodically and randomly my Brake light would flash as if prompting me to brake in situations when it was unnecessary which I found annoying but not frightening like this.

I have had a problem with my 2017 Honda CRV and its braking system. I returned it twice already and the same problem is occurring again. I was driving about 25 miles per hour and the lighting flash Brake! Then suddenly stopped. I use the hwy daily and I'm so frustrated that after 3 times this is still not fixed. This is my 3rd Honda, I love them but this is my first car with so many problems with the braking system. I need it fixed.

CR-V

The collision mitigation braking system is malfunctioning!!! The car automatically hit the brakes hard WHILE I WAS DRIVING when there was NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME!! I had my son in the car with me. We were incredibly lucky no car was behind us. The dealer found “nothing wrong” with the system. I reported this to Honda and was told my ”concerns have been documented.” This is horribly dangerous!!! It is going to be a recall. It should be now!! You can manually turn off this feature, but it must be done every single time you start the engine. Terrible!!!

Driving down the street, minding my own business, going about 35 mph. Sunny morning. Approached the shadow of a large tree that stretched across the road and the car hit the brakes! Scared the bejeebers out of me; luckily there was no one behind me. Went home and told my husband, who thought I was nuts. The fourth time this happened he was with me; scared the bejeebers out of him, too. Took it to the dealership this morning for a different problem; told them about this and they had no idea what could have happened. (I know---the sensor that stops the car to avoid hitting something is messed up) They will check it out while they're trying to diagnose the other problem.

Update from Jan 16, 2019: While car was at dealership for 6 days for a different issue, asked them to check into this. Was told the tech took several test drives and the car didn't do this. Explained again that it's happened probably 4 times in 22 months, was hoping the car's computer could shed some light on the issue. Nope. No fix whatsoever.
