Numerous times while driving, the vehicle infotainment display randomly changes brightness and begins flickering and cycling through screens while beeping. This occurs during both day and nighttime driving, and on both short and long trips. The only way to stop it is to turn off the vehicle or do a "hard reset" with the battery. This is very distracting to the driver. Honda is aware of this significant defect and has no fix for it. In addition, while driving during snow/rain, the vehicle radar systems stop functioning and a message appears that they are "obstructed", which is exactly the opposite of the intent of this safety feature. Given that the infotainment system controls a lot of the safety features, Honda needs to come up with a solution or the vehicles should be recalled.

I've been to the dealership 5 times now for the same issues: Road departure mitigation system failure, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem. I have also been driving the vehicle and with no one in front of me, the car will beep, flash brake, and then the brake system will activate. When this happens the seat belts lock up from the sudden braking. I was told there is an update, and they installed it, supposedly, and the problem should be fixed. I am still having all these problems, and I am now being told there is a software update that is coming out next month. Let me reiterate that while driving on the highway the vehicle will randomly brake with no one in front of me. I also had my gear shifter button pop out and brake while shifting to drive the other day. I had to drive to Honda, and get that replaced, and was told that it is a common problem.

Display console becomes erratic showing different screens, usually starting first with brightness level indicator, and then moving into different screens. The rate the screen changes increases with time. Dealer stated previously that Honda is aware of issue and that it needed a software update which was in beta testing. The incident rate for this to happen is increasing. My second trip to the dealership today (I think a year later) and they still do not have a fix. To stop the cascade, you have to stop the car and turn it off. It is a significant distraction when driving and is unpredictable. Have also noted lane departure system will engage at odd times (no actual lane departure or identifiable road issues). The main dash display failed to boot on start up recently. The gear knob has had to be replaced within the first year.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that while their daughter drove home, the engine shuttered violently and decreased in speed leading to the vehicle stalling. The vehicle was then later started and the lane mediation and crash sensor warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to rick hendrick Honda of charleston (1539 savannah hwy, charleston, SC 29407 (843) 279-0447 where the vehicle was diagnosed that the failure was related to a spare tire that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure later reoccurred. The contact stated that later all the tires were replaced due to wear and tear but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was informed that the system was rebooted however the contact confirmed that the system reboot was not performed as the dealer stated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,774.

The automatic breaking function is randomly applying the brakes, or warning to brake, at random times when there are no other vehicles or people around the car. The automatic braking system has applied itself 3 times, with very hard braking to the point that the seatbelts locked up, while merging or exiting the freeway, going anywhere from 25-45 mph'ish. One time I was almost rear ended and the vehicle behind had to swerve to avoid hitting me (because they were also tailgating), another time was while exiting a bridge, and the most recent was this morning while merging onto the freeway in front of a big rig and the brakes randomly slammed themselves on for absolutely no reason. While driving on surface streets it has automatically applied the brakes lightly at least twice, and given countless false braking warnings when driving around city streets. This is a major safety hazard!

The main dash display intermittently will not "boot up" or will stay black (blank) when starting the vehicle. The windshield wiper will intermittently turn on when set on automatic even though there is no water present. When the vehicle is in motion and the road departure mitigation system (rdm) system is active, it turns off when least expected sometimes causing the vehicle to cross the middle (left) or outside (right) lanes without warning even though there are well defined solid and/or dashed road lane lines. Honda North America is aware of the main display issue and has advised dealerships not to replace the display since it will not fix the issue. The local dealership will not address the rdm issue since the main display is the central processor for all the systems in the vehicle cabin including the road mitigation departure system (rdm) and the lane keeping assist system (lkas) camera. The dealership service department has informed us that Honda North America is "working on a solution to the problem but has no fix at this time". mean while, we are making payments on a vehicle that is dangerous to drive when using the all the "safety" features included in this vehicle. Other issues with this vehicle include: Engine oil dilution, a loose stabilizer sway bar that had to be tightened, driver seat that will not return to the number one driver position intermittingly, the gear shift knob button came off and had to be replaced and the display in front of the steering wheel intermittingly does not work.

Electric console will turn on and off by itself, change brightness, and keeps changing screens while beeping. No way to stop it except to pull over, turn off vehicle and restart. It has done this 5 times now in 1 month. Very distracting and dangerous besides annoying. It happens whether you are driving or parked. Lights on or off.

Car has been in motion and stationary when all dash lights come on, no systems work according to the dashboard. When dash lights with every single warning light comes on while driving, all power and acceleration is lost. This happened to me in an intersection the other day and luckily the CRV was able to coast to the side of the road where the CRV was unable to accelerate again until I turned the car off and back on. I have read numerous blogs with others having this issue. Vtm-4 pops up on the radio screen as a problem. Honda claims to have fixed this issue on the 2019 models yet no recall on 2017 and 2018 models? this loss of power and control of the vehicle is especially scary since I have 2 young kids that right with me daily. Cruise control won't work, remote start hasn't worked since this issue started around 60-70K miles. Honda needs to fix this major problem!

On early Oct 2017, automatic braking system applied (slammed) for no apparent reasons at 45 mph. No cars were in front and luckily none was behind. Happened on mid day, clear and sunny day. There were several occasions that brake warning activated while no pending traffic. Went to dealer to checkup and was told "never heard of such issues with this brake issues". it totally did not make sense that the adviser recommended turning off brake sensing feature!? on a separate issue, front adaptive shutter malfunction while was on the highway causing loss of power. System reset itself after pulling off the road shutoff and restart the engine. Dealer said they were not able to replicate this issue and found no faulty problems.

On multiple occasions, while the vehicle is in motion, the system has made an alert sound and the instrument panel has provided the following notifications: "break system" indicator is lit; collision mitigation system problem; road departure mitigation system problem; and today (3/28/2019) while the cruise control was engaged, it also displayed adaptive cruise control problem. It shuts down these systems and the car drives with a slight "drag" to its movement. The only way to correct this issue is to pull over, turn the car off, wait, and then restart. The system checks itself and resets. This is unpredictable, cannot be specifically initiated, and therefore is difficult to take for repair when there is no indication at the time of the vehicle being in need of repair. There is clearly something wrong with the software, the computer, or an electrical connection. I am the original owner, vehicle was purchased in October 2017.

Vehicle is unable to start after shutdown with no diagnosed cause. After successful shutdown (parked), vehicle will be unable to battery start, with lights and dashboard electronics flashing and starter unable to engage when pressing start button with brake pedal depressed. Vehicle requires jump start for successful start upon symptoms appearing. Vehicle has been brought to Honda dealerships several times for diagnosis and service, but no identifiable cause has been found. Upon latest visit, car was unable to start immediately after parking car at dealership. Dealership diagnosed battery (normal, GR8, ed-18 tests) and both tests passed with normal parameters. Dealership performed parasitic draw test with no abnormal draw found. Dealership applied Honda technical service bulletin (tsb) 17-032 and did not fix problem. This problem occurs seemingly at random intervals and with no pattern to what could cause the battery to be unable to start the car. Problem appears after parking with or without parking brake engaged prior to shutdown, after no driving activity for several weeks, and also after driving for several hours prior to shutdown. No accessories or lights are left on or plugged in to the car's electrical system during periods of no driving activity. This problem suggests that there is an undiagnosed issue with the electrical system on this vehicle. Honda at this time seems unwilling or unable to remedy the issue even though it presents a safety issue - the inability to start/move vehicle after driving.

The push-button start does not engage on the first try quite often. It then takes three or four presses, removing and reapplying the brake pedal, to get the ignition to engage. I have not noticed any pattern to the failures, such as cold engine, weather conditions. This is not a single event so how do I answer when? the dealer was advised repeatedly of the problem but will not even acknowledge the problem -although I don't know if you consider it a safety problem. It has persisted from when it was brand new March 2017 until now.

My 2017 Honda CR-V has had a few problems. Current issues: 1) biggest complaint the gear shift button literally just fell off today when I put my car in park. The silver button that goes into the side fell into the floor. It seemed more & more loose over the last few days, but I didn't think much of it. I should've. It's a CR-V. 2) for the last few months my passenger back seat door won't lock or unlock with my key fob or when I click the button. I have to manually push it. Which means if all the doors aren't locked the car won't lock the other doors. My car is not secure when I'm leaving it parked.
