CR-V

  • 30,000 miles
While driving my 2017 Honda CR-V ex-L on highway (the trip was about 10 hours), about half way of my trip, I could not reach the speed to 55mph with speed limit of 70mph. My odometer was reading around 30000mi. About two months later (just two weeks ago) I took another 2 hour one way trip, similar thing happened to me again on my way back (I could only drive at about 60mph with speed limit of 70mph). I raised the issue with local Honda dealer and they told me to schedule an appointment. I will see what they are going to tell me about the diagnostic checkup. In addition to above possible engine/power/fuel related issues, I had two incidents of dead battery without doing anything after stopping my car. One time (summer 2018) I drove to my son's private teacher's house and parked outside. After the lesson I couldn't start my car. It took 4 hours for Honda roadside assistance to come and found out the battery was dead. After the gentleman jump started my car it was driving fine. In September 2018 I did my oil change, the dealer's exam showed battery life good. Then just about 4 weeks ago in October 2018, my car parked in my garage and it couldn't start again. The roadside assistance found out the battery was dead and no battery life. Honda dealer replaced the battery for me.

I've got 21000 miles on this car which I bought brand new. It's been to the dealership at least four times for the following: All warning lights come on the first time it happened I couldn't release the electronic parking brake. I was told oil was mixing with gas and that Honda has a fix 'coming soon' I'm afraid to drive this car. The car was stationary each time

Vehicle loses power under acceleration. Oil dilution seems to be the aparent cause. Oil level is way above the 'max' level in the oil dipstick. Strong gas smell in the cabin. Problem is widespread among owners of this vehicle (1.5 turbo engine). Honda says 'it's normal', but then promises that 'problem is going to be fixed in next year model'.

After learning of the fuel in oil problem via an article in consumer reports, I checked my oil, which had been changed 2,500 prior to that check. The oil smelled strongly of gasoline, and the level was very high. I called the dealership from which I'd purchased the car I have to take the car in next week to have the dealer check it out Honda has been aware of this problem for quite some time but failed to notify owners. In fact, broad notification has yet to take place. I want this fixed. If Honda doesn't move more rapidly, they've lost me as a customer.

Cabin smells of gasoline after driving short distance then stopped while idling (think going through a drive through, leave house, travel a few miles, wait in line -- that is when it smells of gas). Smell of gas from oil dipstick when checking levels and oil level appears to be higher than normal (dealer services vehicle).

2017 Honda CRV with 1.5 L turbo 4 cylinder engine. Health hazard: Noted gasoline fumes in cabin after starting the car. The fumes are coming in through the ventilation system. Happening in both cold and hot weather. Car has 30K miles on it. Fumes noticed when car is stationary after starting it. Also found to have gas entering oil pan, diluting the oil, and causing high oil levels. Similar reports from many other owners of this vehicle with this engine and apparently a major recall in china for the problem. Am concerned about hydrocarbon levels in the passenger cabin which can be a major health hazard. Just because the fumes dissipate after a minute or so does not necessarily mean that the hydrocarbon levels in the cabin are normal for the rest of the ride. Other major concern is premature wear on the engine due to gas mixing with oil. Another concern is reports of crvs with this problem stalling at high speeds and failing to accelerate properly. Honda usa has not addressed the problem as of this date nor have they offered any solutions. I feel like I wasted over $30K on a vehicle that is now unsafe and destined to premature engine failure. I think there needs to be a recall to fix this problem.

I was pulling into traffic in clearfield, pa barely escaped getting hit by a dump truck when the car practically stopped. I got to the berm of the highway, the car would not go over 4 mph. I got to a parking lot and put it in park, tried drive and reverse, the car would not go over 4 mph. I shut it off for a few minutes, restarted it and it drove ok. Upon hearing of the earth dream engine issue, I had oil checked at an auto zone, oil level was about 1/4 inch up on the actual metal on the dipstick and smelled strongly of gas. Called Honda America, was accused of driving with one foot on the gas and one on the brake. Called the dealer where I purchased the car, preston Honda in new castle pa, service manager dan said they never heard of gas being in the oil and maybe I did have "one foot on the gas and one and the brake thinking I was driving a stick shift". I had driven to a conference lewisburg, pa, after finding someone to finally admit there was a problem, and the car still in warranty, it was towed to the nearest Honda dealership in muncy, pa where the oil was changed and the overfill and gas in oil was documented. After 500 miles the oil chamber is once again overfill with a smell of gas. I had the oil changed again today (905 miles), where preston Honda in new castle pa continues to deny any known issues, refuses to document the oil chamber being overfull and will only document a mild gas smell. This is extremely dangerous. How do I know which trip will be my last when I either get killed or cause someone else to be killed in a terrible automobile accident when the car once again stalls in traffic. I have documentation of all oil changes since the car, I have attached those which have documentation of problem.

Oil crank case is too high due to excess fuel in oil. This causes fuel smell in cabin and stalling of the engine. But more importantly, the engine will suffer from premature engine wear and failure due to lack of lubrication. This is not a cold weather issue as my dilution need happened in the summer and I only do highway driving with long duration. Honda refuses to fix the problem.

I purchased my car from brown's Honda 712 crain highway, glen burnie, md 21061 on June 20,2017. On October 6, 2018 ibecame aware of a very serious problem with my car that has the new 1.5 L turbocharged engine. I noticed that the oil level, as shown on the dip stick, was at least 0.5 inches above the top fill mark. I immediately drained the oil and discovered that the volume of oil was 4.75 quarts or 28% above the car's specification of 3.7 quarts. The drained oil was very black in color and to the touch felt less viscous than new 0-20 oil. It appears that the increased volume is due to gasoline mixing with the oil. On Oct 6,2018 (current odometer reading11467 miles) the oil had run in the engine for about 5400 miles. My first oil change at the dealer was at 6000 miles on 4/16/2018. As you are aware, dilutionof the oil with gasoline is a serious problem that will inevitably lead to premature engine failure and operability/safety problems in the future such as stalling. I visited the brown's Honda dealership today 10/8/2018 and explained the issue stated above. The service director, advised me to keep checking the oil level and come back if any running issues occur. The dealer isunable to correct the issue of gasoline leaking into the oil.this problem substantially impairs the future value of my car and potentially it's safety. Gasoline in the engine oil will lead to premature engine failure.

Once while moving the car to wash it, started it dis-engaged the electronic parking brake, shifted into reverse and the car shut off. The engine was cold. The second time started the car and took a twenty minute,10 mile trip to costco. 30 minutes later started the CR-V, again dis-engaged the electronic parking brake, shifted into reverse and the vehicle shut off, the car was warm. Took the car to Honda and they found nothing wrong, but changed the engine oil with only 2381 miles on the odometer.
