CR-V

The vehicle's shift knob button came loose and fell out. At the time, I was parking the vehicle in a parking lot and attempting to shift it from drive to park. In addition to the button, a metal spring and many pieces of broken plastic fell out of the shift knob. Fortunately I was able to jam a screwdriver into the shift knob and shift the vehicle into park. The vehicle had just over 12,000 miles when this happened.

We had difficulty shifting our CRV into park on several occasions over a period of a couple of days. Eventually we were totally unable to get it into park, and thus could not get the key to the completely off position and remove it, so the battery would have been drained if we left it that way. Fortunately the final failure was in our own driveway. Quick research on the web pointed us to the problem many have had with the button on the side of the shifter that must be pressed to get in and out of park. Sure enough, we found the button was broken inside and not functional. The button and spring fell out as we inspected it. Though we're grateful it didn't pop off while we were driving, it seems clear this is a frequent failure that can create a dangerous situation. Seems like there should be an official recall.

2017 Honda CR-V ex. The shift knob button (which shifts the car out of park and into drive) broke off from its spring and it would not register the car being in park to shut off the electronics in the vehicle. I was forced to disconnect the negative from battery when the car is in park and reconnect when the it was time to drive somewhere. When I contacted my Honda dealer, they informed me of a recall for this issue. On a side not, my wife also has the same year, make and model which had a recall for the same issue.

**'17 Honda CR-V shift lever button (silver) broke off during drive!!** CR-V w/ around 26K miles had the silver button fall out while in motion on a city street on 7/13/2019. I wasn't accelerating or decelerating at the time, it just popped out. I was able to safely pull over and stop, but had a lot of trouble getting it shifted from drive to park. I had to push the loose spring and plastic button back into the shift lever and after 6 tries, was able to put it into park. Also, the car won't turn off and won't lock because the computer doesn't recognise that it is parked. The engine start/stop button keeps flashing red.

While trying to put the vehicle in park, the silver button on the left side of the gear shifter flew off. The piece appears to be broken off in the inside. Took it to the dealer the next day. The service rep was not surprised. Says he has heard of this happening in other CR-V's. he tried to tell me it just popped out, but this thing broke off in the inside. He said he said he was surprised there is no recall. They fixed it. No charge. Quite a frightening experience when it happened

In slow moving traffic in front of the local mall, my sunroof exploded there was no collision, no object thrown or dropped into the window. Honda refused to accept responsibility for what I learned from research on line, which is that this is an epidemic involving shattered sun roofs.

While diving randomly at high speeds (60+ mph) and while turning in very good weather all warning lights light up (I have a video) and the vehicle loses power. This has happened a number of times on the highways and a major safety concern. I had to pull out of the highway stop and restart for the vehicle to regain power but the warning lights continue to be lit. After a couple of start and stop it disappears. It is a major safety concern and I have been lucky so far. I have approached the dealership thrice about the issue and they have replaced 2 sensors and updated the software but the issue persists.

I just pulled into my garage and could not move the shifter. The button on the side of the shifter wouldn't go in at all. Kept trying and the black piece to push in just came out in my hand. It looked like it had broken off down inside the shifter. I pushed it back in and put in park. Taking in the morning to Honda dealer

CR-V rolled backwards twice, once when the engine was off (Oct. 2018) and once when it was running (May 2019). Both times the gear shift was in neutral. I believe the gear shift slipped into neutral, perhaps by my banging into it. I have driven for 27 years and never had this problem. I most recently drove a Toyota rav4 with a similar layout in terms of location of the gear shift. Drove it for 9 years without a problem.

Collision mitigation system. Several times the car has hit the brakes with absolutely no obstacle in front of the car. I did call Honda and was told to take it to the dealer to adjust. The rep I spoke to gave me a lecture about it being a safety feature that we have to get used to!!! he also suggested that I may have the setting set to "short." I did check it was set to "normal" I changed it to "long.". it has happened three times since then. Once just the audible warning and twice it literally slammed on the brakes and stopped the car - everything that was loose was flying around. I have been extremely fortunate that everytime (5 instances since I got the car in Dec 2017 - 4 times on city streets and once on the highway) it has slammed the brakes for no reason, there was none behind me. If there was someone behind me, they would have hit me. I know that if I was driving behind someone who literally brought the car to am immediate stop, I would have hit them. One of these days I am going to get hit.
