While driving on an interstate with no vehicles or obstacles stopped in front of me my car automatically braked hard. It came to a complete stop on the interstate which resulted in me getting rear ended. I took it to Honda to try to get the information from the black box but they refused to try to pull anything.

  • 9,100 miles
Yesterday, while driving at 68mph, with no vehicles directly in front of me or beside me, and no other obstructions in the roadway at all, the vehicle self-applied the brakes firmly. This wasn't a gradual slow down, it was immediate and thankfully the large bobtail truck behind had an attentive driver, otherwise I would have been rear-ended and the results would not have been positive. This has happened at least 3 other times, but at slower speeds. Again, there was nothing in front of the CR-V...except air and concrete. This event got my attention and this is a very serious issue. I called Honda of tomball and explained what happened. They hadn't heard of this issue, but aside from that, Honda motor company is aware. The CR-V is there for diagnosis and nothing against Honda of tomball, as they are great, but there is no solution. Apparently, Honda hasn't even sent this down to the dealers? we purchased 2 Honda vehicles a month apart, due to their advertised reliability and safety ratings. We absolutely want the added electronic safety features, as they are designed to minimize accidents and injury. This obvious defect in the Honda sensing is going to kill someone if admission to the issue isn't stated and a real resolution isn't presented by Honda. It was almost me yesterday. This is in no way an exaggeration. Honda, you have a problem.

While driving on an unobstructed city street, at night, I drove under pedestrian bridge that was casting a shadow on the road. The collision mitigation system beeped and alerted to brake. The car then began braking very hard to a near full stop in the middle of the street. I had to pull off the side of the road to avoid obstructing traffic.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. while the contact's wife was driving approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal seemed to be pumping on its own. The driver had to apply excessive pressure when depressing the brake pedal. The contact experienced the same failure when driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

While driving leisurely on a winding road called sullivan trail, scotrun pa we received an alert on the vehicle dashboard: "brake system road departure mitigation system problem" (rdms). The rdms button was not on at the time. We were about 2 minutes from home so the vehicle was driven home and parked. At home, we pressed the rdms button and it did not light to engage. Through google search, we found out other Honda owners have experienced similar problems at the approximate 5000 mile mark. Our vehicle was purchase brand new at ray price Honda in stroudsburg pa in November 2018. It has had one oil service change at the same dealership at the 5000 mile mark. Currently, it has 5570 miles. We understand from an article online that Honda does not give warrant on this issue which could cost 3000 to repair. The vehicle is driven mainly for short and careful drives around stroudsburg -- food shopping and the like for our home. With such limited drives, it should surely be more reliable.

On many occasions my CRV auto brakes hard and lane keep follows the wrong lines. 2 examples of braking: 1 - a pickup truck was making a right hand turn in front on me. As a human I started to go around him to the left as he turned but my auto brakes locked up and the person behind me came within inches from rear ending me then got road rage and chased me for something I did not do! could have been killed! 2nd was on a bend in the road - a white moving truck coming the other way on the bend made my auto brakes lock up hard / near a full stop! this happens often but not usually to these extremes. Lane keep - while on a major highway with cruise and lk on I went thru a recent construction area and my Honda started to follow old lines and painted over w/ black paint lines - not the new lines from after the repairs! it was scary - almost drove me into a barrier! on 1200 mile trip to Florida my car often would hit the brakes for reasons I could not tell or go out of the normal road lines or the acc would slow the car to a crawl for trucks in the other lane. Took it to the dealer - they say npf. One guy did say to adjust the sensitivity which I did but it still brakes when it should not. My wifes car does not react this way.

Problems first presented: Auto door lock malfunction, auto- rain sensing wiper malfunction would come on when dry, not come on when wet; navigation system went crazy on the highway flashing on and off when using it; twice the auto breaking system came on when on the highway with nothing in front of me....going 50 mph! I very well could have been rear ended. I saw no obstruction on the road. I have had the vehicle in twice to the dealer only to be told it does not happen and they have no bulletins regarding these issues.

3 time while driving on the fwy 65 mph with the cruise control activated, lane control activated, and the distance set to minimum, with no one in front of me, the car detected the car to the right of me and slammed on the brakes, and causing the person behind me to slam on their brake almost causing an accident. This happened between April of 2019 and Oct of 2019. When I brought it into the dealership they said that there was dirt on the milliwave radar, found code P2583-97, I found this to be highly unlikely because the car was spotless. The second time I took the car to the dealership, they said the could not duplicate the problem. When asked how they diagnosed the car they said they drove it 10 miles down a bolsa chica rd. I told the sevice person that that was not the same conditions as I was driving and that they could not have gotten the car up to 65 mph when the speed limit was 45 mph and it wasn't a fwy. Her response was we are not allowed to drive cars on the fwy. I said then how are you do duplicate the condition of the problem. This car has been into the dealership for multable electronic issue, none of which have been solved yet. All I get is the same answer, cant duplicate the problem. I believe this car has had these problems since it was sold new and the person before me turned this car in with only 8000 miles on it for a new car that they could trust. This is a safety issue ad could cause me to get into an accident thats not my fault.

I was going about 25 miles per hour at about 6:00 pm on 10/21/2019 in my 2018 Honda CRV exl in pittsburgh, pa. When the car's automatic braking system kicked in and slammed on my breaks abruptly for absolutely no reason at all. It was a very clear day, no rain, very well paved, maintained, and marked 2 lane city street. There were absolutely no cars in front of me or coming in the other direction. This came out of no where and I was shocked and confused as to why this happened. I own 3 crvs!!! I have always loved Honda and now I'm fearful of them. I'm afraid to let my teenage daughter drive it. Thank god I was only going 25 miles per hour and no one was behind me ! please Honda! this is real!!!! this is dangerous!! fix this problem!!! our lives depend on it!

I was driving my 2018 Honda CRV on a city street between 25 and 30 mph when the brakes suddenly applied themselves and the car jerked forward very hard. My foot was on the acclerator.there was no car, pedestrian of object in front of my car nor behind my car. The weather was clear, no rain for several days.I think it was the automatic braking system. I called the dealer as soon as I got home. They are closed. I will be taking my car to the dealer first thing in the morning

Vehicle was traveling westbound on I-90 in Massachusetts in the travel lane at between 65-68 mph. The cruise control was not engaged; the lane keeping assist feature was not active. It was around 7:00 pm. No cars in the passing lane. A tractor trailer was about 200-300 feet in front. The dashboard chimed and displayed the following three warning messages: Collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist system. The first time each message was displayed a chime sounded; the messages continued to rotate through the display for the next thirty minutes. The messages stopped when we got home and put the car in the garage in park. Additionally, the light for 'brake system' (near the temperature gauge) came on. I brought the car in today for service (it just happened that it was scheduled for an oil change); I told the service advisor about what had happened; the technician working on the vehicle said no codes were being displayed. He took it for a ride but could not get the messages to come up (it only happened one time). The service advisor said it was probably 'just a glitch'.

I was travelling approximately 50 mph on local highway. No cars directly in front of me for a 1/4 mile. It had rained overnight and the road conditions were slightly damp but no puddles. I was crossing through an intersection and the car's 'brake' alarm (forward collision system) falsely triggered on the dashboard and instantly slammed on my brakes and brought my 2018 CRV to a dead stop. My cargo went flying forward and my head jerked forward hard. I was wearing my seat belt. No car was immediately behind me otherwise they would have for sure crashed into my car. I contacted my local Honda dealer and brought the vehicle in that afternoon. They said they would run diagnostics on it. They called me back the next day and said that there "were no trouble codes stored in the vehicle". they said they "contacted Honda and there were 'no known issues' and there was nothing else they could do for me". they suggested I turn off the forward collision system if I was concerned. This is crazy and hazardous. The vehicle should not put me (and others) in danger like this. Thank god my wife and kids were not in the vehicle when this happened. Thank god no one was behind me. I pray they aren't when this happens again. There needs to be some sort of recall or warning regarding this.

While driving on a main road, I went through an intersection with no cars in front or to the side of me, but 2 cars close behind me. When I went through the intersection, my brake lights began flashing and then my car stopped itself on impact. The 2 cars behind me swerved around me almost causing an accident. There were no vehicles that should have set off the automatic breaking and the weather conditions were fine.

At various speeds and different roads my car seems to brake for no reason no cars in front of me and no obstructions of radar or camera. The screen starts flashing brake brake brake and then proceeds to stop the vehicle, even on the middle of the freeway. Have been to the dealer multiple times and they claim there's nothing wrong with my car. This is obviously dangerous, and I fear for my own safety
