Vehicle was at approximately 45 mph on a local street when the collision avoidance braking automatically engaged. Not a single vehicle or object was in front of the car.car came to a screeching halt. Had to veer off onto center of the road onto left turn only lane to avoid rear car crash. Dangerous condition. Lost control of the vehicle. Stepping on the brakes or accelerator could not override the event till car came to a screeching halt.

My vehicle was in motion traveling at 30 mph on a city street. My vehicle suddenly flashed the brake warning and the brakes were engaged automatically until the vehicle reached a full stop. There was no reason for this as there were no cars in front of me or any other obstacle in my path. No car was in the oncoming lane either. This is the 2nd time this has happened in this vehicle under the same conditions.

Accident avoidance system engaged for no reason, locking the brakes momentarily while driving at 40 mph. May 5, 2019, clear day, 4:30P, heading East (sun behind), nothing in front of the vehicle and traffic far behind. Five lane road - two lanes each direction and a middle turn lane -- and straight in this area. Turned right onto the road from an intersection and got up to speed. The warning sound from the accident avoidance system beeped three times while the brakes were harshly applied causing light skidding in dry conditions. Then the brakes were just as suddenly released. Happened very quickly and would have caused an accident if I was in traffic. My foot was still on the gas pedal and the braking force made me push the pedal more. Extremely unsafe incident. Vehicle had about 3,710 miles, 2018 CR-V ex 1.5 turbo AWD with cvt.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. while driving 50 mph and exiting a freeway, the forward collision avoidance system independently activated and caused the vehicle to come to an immediate stop. The vehicle also lunged to the right. The contact stated that the failure also occurred on another occasion while driving 30 mph. John Eagle Honda of dallas (5311 lemmon ave, dallas, tx 75209) was called at (214) 431-5997 and an appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,800.

Unexpected braking; occurred 2/9/2019M while driving down a straight, level road, with no other cars in front or behind me. Sunny day, no wind, no buildings or shadows of any kind, no debris on road -- perfect driving conditions. Car braked without warning, from 40mph to ~20mph in a fraction of a second, seat belt held me back, then brakes released. Immediately visited dealership (autonation Honda 104, 2999 w 104th, westminster, co), reported problem, they did some computer diagnostics, found nothing, tried to blame problem on a blowing leaf.

On two occasions the automatic breaking system engaged. On the first occasion, I was driving at a speed of approximately 30 mph and the road was completely clear with no cars in front of me or objects in the road. On the second occasion, I was driving over a railroad track at approximately 10 or 15 mph. There were no cars in front of me. Both times the breaks engaged abruptly and I was lucky there were no cars following closely or it would have caused a collision.

Lane departure and collision control often engage without cause. Twice I have been driving and the lane departure sensors go off and vehicle automatically brakes for no obvious reason. It appears that it may be falsely reading shadows or wet roadways. One incident was on a city street at about 40 mph. The other was on the interstate at around 70 mph.

I was driving to work on dry roads with light traffic due to it being spring break in atlanta. I was driving at 48 mph and suddenly it was as if someone had stomped on the brakes hard. The car slowed very quickly to 30 mph. A car that was following me at similar speed had to swerve to avoid running into the back of me. There was no car in front of me that could have triggered a breaking response and I did not deviate from my lane either. This was a completely random event. 10 minutes later as I got closer to work the lane diversion warning came on, again with me being rocky steady in my lane. I think the sensors may have been reading any whites lines in the road, like a crosswalk or white lane turn arrow.

I was driving to get license renewed when my car lost power and began to coast. The engine was on and I had to gun it to pick up speed. I turned around and headed for the Honda dealership. Upon getting there all systems were lit up maintenance wise and smoke was coming out of the underside where the brakes are. The service advisor said when she went around the car that it was so hot it would have burned her. Service tech said left front brakes extremly heated and smoke coming from the area. Found brakes have gotten hot. Cleared code present C0040-12. Brake switch stuck on. I advised never used hold brake unless I was sitting on steep hill. Tech unable to make vehicle do what it was doing to me but, the minute I got it out on the highway, it started doing the same thing. Tech advised brake pads ok and rotors have some heat spots in them but ok. They went ahead and changed the oil!!!!

The collision avoidance system or whatever it is called suddenly slammed on the brakes when I approached a slight left curve in the road at 35 miles per hour (the posted speed limit). The system has activate at least 3 times before at the same place in the rad and same speed, for no apparent reason other than possibly a sign or tree that is close to the edbe of the road. However this time the braking was so severe it could have caused an accident if a car had been closely following me. I pass this place imultiple times every week for over a year, but the braking problem has only occurred 4 or 5 times.

While performing a straight, slow speed stop at red light in city traffic, in dry weather with no road debris, the brakes feel spongy, like they are not operating at full power, and is unable to stop the vehicle. Pressing harder on the brake petals causes a loud rumbling noise from the braking system that sounds like ABS system engaging. The vehicle does come to a full stop, but a low rumbling noise continues while stopped. When driver releases brakes, before pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle lurches forward abruptly and rumbling noise stops. Subsequent operation of vehicle returns to normal. This sequence of behavior occurs sporadically. It has occurred three times in the last four months. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership. Inspection by a certified mechanic did not uncover any cause for this behavior and no error codes are recorded in the vehicle's computer. Mechanic indicated that without a reliable way to reproduce the fault, it is difficult to know what went wrong or how to fix it.

I was driving to Honda dealer on March 6, 2019 for my second oil change as a result of me calling the dealership and telling them my oil smelled like it had gas in it again. This is with less than 700 miles since the first oil change that I had done on February 13, 2019. My first oil change was with 4525 miles, this was done as part of a recall on my vehicle. On this March 6th trip I was about 40 miles away from the dealership and my acc (adaptive cruise control) shut down, the collision mitigation system problem and road departure mitigation system problem lights all came up on dash of car and kept scrolling on dash. When my car did this I was unsure, felt unsafe and was frustrated as not knowing what was going on and how many more problems I am going to have with this vehicle. I found a safe place to pull over and called the dealer and told him what was going on, he said the car was safe to drive but those systems that were scrolling on dash weren't operating. It was 6 F outside a clear road and a sunny day in North Dakota. After the oil change, I was told the oil was high and that there was again gas in my oil again. At this point I am beyond frustrated and wondering how many more problems I will be having with this new vehicle and the nearest dealership to me is 100 miles away, which causes me time and expense to get to dealership. This also causes me to wonder how reliable this new vehicle can be in North Dakota in the winter time as also not getting much heat out of the heating system either, so between the heat, the gas in the oil and electrical problems I am not feeling that this is a safe dependable vehicle to drive, as a person could freeze to death if ended up stranded when the car shuts down and no heat, like it did when I had my appointment for the recall on 2-12-19 and it had to be put on flat bed truck to get recall done.

The collision mitigation braking system was activated when I drove over large metal panels that were placed on a city street in Chicago. I have attached documentation. It happened twice in same spot, Jan. 8 and Jan. 10, both times I was accelerating to get onto the highway ramp, so the impact of the brakes locking up was extra severe. The dealer said he had two other people with same experience, but one going over railroad tracks. The dealer and Honda told me the only way to turn off this system is to manually do it every time you start your car. Thank god I did not have somebody close behind me when it happened, or I would have been rear ended. The regional case manager did not return my calls for a week, and when he did he said the car was operating properly. I told him in the city of Chicago(where I work) I drive over about 15-20 metal panels like that every day, going each way. I am afraid I will forget to turn the system off one of these times, and if I do and I get rear ended, I will hold Honda responsible. I was completely dissatified with the letter they sent me, not adressing my complaint at all, the the case manager was very rude on the phone. I asked if my Honda dealer could disable this feature, and was told no. There have to be many other consurmers out there that live in cities that have this same problem. There is no way to adjust the sensitivity to large metal objects. The way Honda handled my complaint is totally unacceptable to me. * also have photos of the exact spot that this occurred, if needed, I can upload the photos

I really started thinking about an incident from two days ago, when I received a "vague" 2018 Honda CRV recall notice on my car for an A/C control unit replacement, etc. Today. That notice prompted me to begin searching online for anyone documenting "spontaneous braking." I did find several that would say exactly what I would have said in their place. In other words, braking hard enough to an abrupt stop that if someone had been behind me I would have been rear ended. Things were thrown from the seats to the floor when I was going quite slowly (on this neighborhood side street).coming up on an area where a large steel sheet had been placed by sewer workers over an opening in the lane I was in. I was so shocked that I lowered my passenger window to call out to two of the workers that, "I didn't do it, the car did." Yesterday I went back to that same location to examine exactly how the spot appeared. It definitely looked like the type of road condition that a kid's tricycle is built to easily pass over. I purchased this car on 9/28/2018. In the recall notice, they referred to: What is the product update issue--following that it says--...there are reports of vehicles experiencing drivability concerns. These concerns can result in the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) turning on. Oh! really! just a "concern"? I'm hoping to find out more about this, and have it fixed, before I, or someone like me, become a statistic. I don't think of an A/C issue as having anything to do with 'drivability.'

On a city street, after slow acceleration after leaving a stop sign, with no cars in front of me, the collision avoidance system suddenly engaged and hard braked the car. Luckily no one was behind me or I fear I might have been rear-ended! also I am concerned that Honda has not acknowledged a problem with the earthdream turbo 1.5 engine causing gasoline to enter the oil. I live in Maryland, usa and Honda has done recalls in china and now Canada to address this issue as well as poor heating, but not in the usa. I am deeply concerned that this will cause engine damage in the future long after the warranty has expired and Honda will not accept liability! I am also concerned that there has been no recall to address problems with the gear shift lever. Many owners are reporting that the button you must push in to shift into or out of park will break without warning, preventing shifting gears.

The car has several electrical problems with the new safety features. On 3 occasions, the car has "hard braked" by itself for no apparent reason (no cars nearby). Also, the car "beeps" intermittently when it shouldn't. this indicates a problem also with safety features. The auto walk-away lock feature does not always work. The settings are for car to auto lock & it does sometimes & sometimes it does not! the mirrors light up warning that there is a car in the lane next to me & not to enter lane, it does this when I'm not changing lanes-defective also.
