  • 38,200 miles
2018 CR-V (~38,200 miles) unexpectedly halted (loss of power - engine kept running) going ~35 mph on lakeville hwy/116 in busy traffic and showed engine/emissions check light and other warning lights. Towed to dealer where diagnostic codes P061B ECM/PCM internal malfunction (torgue calculation), C1870-00, U0401-68, U3003-S6 were seen. Per american Honda Motors (ahm), dealer was to clear codes and try and replicate malfunction which they were unable to do having driven it 60 miles. Ahm would not replace ECM/PCM as dealer was not able to replicate. I had safety concern so after speaking with lead service technician at dealer paid $~441 to have ECM/PCM replaced. I was not comfortable driving the vehicle with nothing being done. I believe that such codes should mandate car company to ensure safety of owner with paid replacement of faulty part. I hope others have not experienced this, not replaced the part and subsequently gotten into an accident as a result.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate to higher speeds. The contact stated that there was a leak coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to umansky Honda (960 hilton heights rd, charlottesville, va 22901, (888) 686-9143) where the transmission was replaced, the oil pan was replaced and resealed, and the bell housing was repaired. The contact stated that after the repairs were performed, there was an abnormal rattling sound underneath the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted nor was the manufacturer made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

I purchased the vehicle with 16 miles on it; I bought it brand new. It leaked oil and transmission fluid all over my garage and while driving the car. I had a significant oil and transmission leak. Had to tow the car to be repaired. The same issue happened again where it dumped all the oil out of the engine, and they had to fix it for a second time. They informed me there wasn't any oil left in my engine and this was right after an oil change.they said this never happens, but it did twice. My 36,000-mile warranty is almost up, and I have a feeling this is an ongoing issue. Last time it leaked, it took them three months to fix it. I paid a lot of money when I bought my first new car ever. It's a shame I bought a lemon, and I'm paying monthly for it. This issue needs to be addressed because my car start light always blinks on and off also, and they can't figure it out. Also, my touchscreen has frozen and let the radio on full blast while I was driving and wouldn't shut off on more than one occasion.

From the date I purchased (so Honda already knew of problem) my vehicle oil is being over filled (and diluted) with gasoline. It dilutes and overfills to the point of PCV valve burn off. Now 33000 miles on auto, Honda wants to change injectors to "see" if this solves problem. One: It's happened since new. Injectors or doubtfully the problem. Two: 33000 miles of gas/oil dilution has undoubtedly caused wear to crank and cylinders. How is injectors being replaced going to "solve" the wear that they have allowed, since my continued concerns at every single oil change for 33000 miles were ignored" I have read this is not an uncommon problem, but very common with this engine. One: Why haven't they addressed my concerns for 33000 miles? two: With a known problem, and the customer complaining from the start of dilution, why haven't they addressed the wear to my engine" an extended warranty does not stop the damage caused by Honda ignoring my complaints for 33000 miles to start a repair. Note, I have addressed overfilling with gasoline at every oil change (garage visit) to the point of argument just to get it documented that I raised the issue! it dilutes to PCV valve burnoff before 1000 miles (as tested and verified by Honda dealership!) and goes for at least 5000 miles between oil changes. Every day more gas and oil are burnt through exhaust as more gas is added. I will comply with the injector "fix" by the garage, but want my wear to the engine addressed. This is gross overfilling and dilution, known by Honda, and sold to me anyways, with no repair as of yet to wear. What happens when warranty runs out and they have allowed such gross dilution and wear? they are claiming a "cold climate" problem, but my does it in the heat of the South Carolina summer! Honda is covering up.

2018 Honda CRV ex: Mileage 20,165. Upon accelerating while pulling the car on main roadway, the car dropped from 50mph to 25mph and then wouldn't reach past 35mph, the engine light appeared and started to blink. Pushing the gas pedal only aggravated the situation. About a mile later the car stopped/stalled trying to go up a hill. I turned off car, waited 10 min and restarted. Was able to go another 1 mile to home, I did not attempt to go over 25 mph, because engine light was still blinking. The next morning, I drove the car to the dealer, but made sure I did not go over 30mph, as I did not want it to stall. During the drive the engine light was still blinking. Waiting to hear back.from the dealer. I believe this is a powertrain issue that has been documented by Honda and all 2017/2018 crvs have been recalled in china and europe, but not the us.

This vehicle after having 4500 miles, began to smell terribly of gasoline inside and outside of the vehicle. The vehicle sputtered, did not want to run, and stalled a few times before I wound up at the dealership. I also noticed that when the little wrench came on, for a notification of the first oil change, that the vehicle made a loud growling noise. The vehicle is sitting in the dealership right now waiting a hopeful repair. Here I am with no vehicle, and a $400 per month payment. This is absolutely unacceptable in today's world. This problem should have been fixed, before the vehicle was allowed to be put up for sale. A vehicle is deemed not safe, when it's stalls on you in the middle of traffic.

While driving our 2017 Honda CRV today with our young grandchildren in the vehicle on a busy highway the gear shift button on the shifter and a spring suddenly popped out and fell on the floor. I pulled off the road and obviously could not shift the vehicle into park or reverse. Luckily I was able to leave the vehicle in drive and make it back to our house. I consider this a serious issue. I have read of several instances of this happening and the CRV requiring to be towed to a dealership. Honda needs to issue a recall on this issue as well as the serious gas in oil issue with this vehicle. We live in an area with severe winter weather and the possibility of being stranded because of this defect is dangerous.

Smelled gasoline in and outside the car. Car never warms up. Heat does not work. Engine oil smells like gasoline & significantly over full mark on dipstick. Took vehicle to Honda dealer late November 2018. Parts took several weeks. Completed 12/17/18 Honda update 18-114. Heat never worked over winter, car never warmed up unless driven in "L" for an extended period of time, smelled of gas & engine oil level exceeded full mark. Took into dealer & dealer measure engine oil over 1 inch above full on dipstick. Honda service advisor consulted with Honda who stated this is a "normal" characteristic of this motor. Nothing was done to fix issue & deemed excessive gasoline in the oil as being normal. Engine continues not to provide heat & occassionally smells of gasoline. Dealer states if car is primarily used for short distances the vehicle does not have time to warm up & burn off excess gasoline in the injectors. I have lived in the same house for 15 years & in that time had 7 cars. My commutes & overall use of vehicles has not changed but this is the only car to experience this issue.

On 3 different occasions, while driving the car on the interstate highway, it started vibrating, and would not accelerate, burning smell occurred, several warning lights came up on the dashboard. We had to navigate the car from the middle of highway to the shoulder of the highway very abruptly. It was a near death experience as several trucks and cars were traveling on the highway at very fast speeds. Reported the first occurrence to the mcgrath city Honda, Chicago, il in January 2019 along with the dashboard warning light pictures and they replaced some fuel sensors and informed me that this was a manufacturing issue (defective part). Second incident occurred in February 2019, could not take photos as the problems went away after restarting the engine. Reported the third incident in March 2019 along with the dashboard warning light pictures to the same dealership and I was informed that there is a problem with fuel injector and they placed the order for the part. We are really, really scared of driving this defective, malfunctioning and hazardous vehicle. I searched the internet last night and it seems several other Honda CRV owners are having these issues. Please investigate this serious issue and save the people.

While performing a straight, slow speed stop at red light in city traffic, in dry weather with no road debris, the brakes feel spongy, like they are not operating at full power, and is unable to stop the vehicle. Pressing harder on the brake petals causes a loud rumbling noise from the braking system that sounds like ABS system engaging. The vehicle does come to a full stop, but a low rumbling noise continues while stopped. When driver releases brakes, before pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle lurches forward abruptly and rumbling noise stops. Subsequent operation of vehicle returns to normal. This sequence of behavior occurs sporadically. It has occurred three times in the last four months. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership. Inspection by a certified mechanic did not uncover any cause for this behavior and no error codes are recorded in the vehicle's computer. Mechanic indicated that without a reliable way to reproduce the fault, it is difficult to know what went wrong or how to fix it.

  • 4,525 miles
When driving my vehicle on the highway, it shut down and the service engine light came on, it had lost all power and it had 4525 miles on it. I was on my way to take it up for a recall for a software update with A/C control unit replacement ; dtc P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, or P0172. I had to call Honda road side assistance and my vehicle was hauled on a flat bed trailer to get the recall fixed. This recall also involved an oil change, of which they were making the customer responsible to pay for the filter, they would change the filter with the oil change, but not pay for the filter when changing the oil. There is also an oil disillusion problem with this vehicle as there is gas going into the oil causing a gas smell in the oil and thinning out the oil. Also there is a heating problem with this vehicle as there is no heat which comes out of the blowers, which where I live is very important to have for 6-9 months out of the year. I would rather not have air conditioning as I can roll down my window to get cooled off, but there is only one way I can get heat in my car and that is from running the engine and using the climate control in the car. In cold weather states when driving this car is not safe because when it shuts down and isn't drivable and the car isn't able to produce heat when you are stranded a person could freeze to death because of the cars inability to produce heat while stranded in the cold weather. My oil already smells of gas and I have driven it less than 700 miles since the oil change, that was performed with the recall. I am taking to Honda dealer again for an exam I was told, to check out spark plugs and X-ray them and also for another oil change, with 5219 miles on car now, so with less than 700 miles from last oil change I will now be getting another. 2018 Honda CRV has oil diluted by gas and causes the crankcase oil to be overfilled. Also smell of raw gas in cabin. Dealer has no fix. I got them to do the software upgrade but no change. Purchased the car new in April 2018 and immediately had the above mention problems. Had the oil changed and no improvement. Very concerned about the longevity of the engine and safety to car with that much gas in the oil

Purchased vehicle Nov 9, 2018. From 50-450 miles, had very poor avg mpg (avg 12-16 mpg combined). On Jan 1, with under 450 miles on car, and within the first 1.5 miles of driving (driving on a slight incline), computer mpg indicator became erratic/blinking for about 2-3 minutes (indicated from 2 - 80 mpg and occasionally appeared as -------) then returned to higher than usual number. Jan 2, started car, very strong smell of raw gas inside cabin (had to open windows) for about 3-4 minutes - reported to/made appt with dealer. Jan 3, brought to dealer for appt, told no odor currently detected by service manager in cabin, nothing they could do and did not take car or provide repair order number. At 594, (Feb 5) returned to dealer with strong smell of raw gas in oil (on dipstick and over engine with hood up). Oil on dipstick appeared runny. Dealer confirmed gas in oil, american Honda instructed dealer this is not a problem and not to change oil. Dealer changed oil as a courtesy to me. I am deeply concerned about the safety of this raw gas odor (if involved in minor accident, will vehicle explode) and deeply concerned about the ongoing damage to engine, powertrain etc. Raw gas in cabin (even if sporadic) and oil is not normal. American Honda has not yet returned my calls but has assigned a case number.

Gas is leaking into the oil system thus overfilling it. I have checked my vehicles oil (less than 500 miles on my car) and the oil line was way passed full. This overfilling can cause premature damage to the engine, which according to experts can cause stalling at random times which poses an immediate threat to the driver and other vehicles on the road. The dealership from which I bought my vehicle did not inform me of this issue even though they know that it is a pressing issue. Hence the reason the 2019 CR-V's have not yet been released.
