I bought this vehicle BRAND NEW on Jan. 1, 2019. Figured I would treat myself after having driven my RAV-4 for 10 yrs. And 175, 000 miles. I did a bunch of research and had loved my two previous Hondas.
Within the first few days I felt like the engine didn’t sound or feel right, esp. when accelerating and when it shifted. It also has a rough sound while idling in park. It sounded like an “OLDER†engine- rough. Three friends noticed the sound right off. One of them was actually a salesman at a sister dealership to where I bought my car- so he knows cars.
I kept track of the “noise†and then when I took my car in for it’s 1st oil change on June 12, 2019 at approx.. 4800 miles (to purchasing dealership) I told them about this ongoing issue. Later that day the service manager called me to say that the mechanic also heard the engine noise and felt that it was not normal but needed more time to figure it out and repair.
The car was in shop at dealership for 3 days. I was told that there was no problem.
I continued to hear this not-right engine and went to a different dealership to test drive a new vehicle-same make, model, year. NO strange noise on acceleration or idling.
On July 25th I had a MAJOR problem with my brakes, power steering and all electrical systems and while in a different dealer shop for those problems, I told them about the engine problem. When I got my car, one week later I was told that the engine was fine, normal and that the sound I heard was because I was not used to the way it shifted and all…a new system so it shifts differently…blah blah blah….
The thing is- while my car was in their shop they provided me a loaner- same year, make , model as mine. NO strange noises AND the temp gauge/display worked correctly(separate issue). TODAY- I have my vehicle in AGAIN -this time for the outside temperature gauge/display and I asked that they check my engine cause it is STILL sounding rough at acceleration, shifting and idling…particularly when it is hot.
The service writer was practically MEAN and definitely patronizing…INSISTING that the engine is PERFECT and that it is the way it is……NORMAL. BUT BUT if it is normal why is it different than other CR-Vs -same year and model????????
