problem #2

CR-V Touring 1.5L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,200 miles

BRAKE WARNING on-screen just started and happened twice in last two weeks. I don't know how important or significant this issue is. Should I return to the dealer now or wait to see if it happens again?

problem #1

Feb 032020

CR-V EX-L 1.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 6,000 miles

I was told that the appearance of the BRAKE light, and the accompanying beeps, is normal. I was not told that there is a 'fix.'

WOW! My two previous Hondas didn't do this... does this mean my previous Hondas were not normal... AND since when is a WARNING light something to be ignored?!!

Update from Feb 11, 2020: Apologies for previous comment. I have since researched, AND fully read the Owners' Manual, pertaining to the BRAKE light, on the instrument cluster:

1. This is a Driver Assist system, which has 3-levels of performance, ranging from an audible beep and display of the word BRAKE...to the third level, which is audible beep, display of the word BRAKE, AND applies HARD brakes. All of this to help the driver avoid an accident.

2. One of the four-times the word BRAKE was displayed, and beeps were sounded, included an instance of a car making a left-turn into my lane...in other words the system was working. In this instance, there was no accident.

3. As I understand it, the system works with sensors, one in the grille and one at the top of the windshield. These sensors must be kept clean of dirt and debris in order to perform their intended job. So, maybe my sensors were blocked with dirt/debris, or maybe a reflection in the rain caused false warnings...I don't know, so I cannot claim the system is faulty.

4. There is a switch that turns ON, or OFF the system.

Again, I apologize for my previous comments. I mistakenly thought the display of BRAKE, was telling me the brake system needed attention. I FEEL MUCH BETTER ABOUT THE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICE DEPT.
