CR-V EX 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 80,000 miles

The transmission failed, and the vehicle was towed to a Honda dealer. The fix was to have the dealer install a remanufactured transmission for $6500. Honda will not cover any of the cost (out-of-warranty), which is odd given the known issue with the CVT and my previous experiences with Honda. Even a $100 contribution would have been a nice gesture. I was disappointed in Honda's transmission quality and a willingness to find a reasonable resolution. I am thinking of taking the CRV to a transmission shop for $3800 in repairs, then promptly selling the vehicle and ending my 20-year relationship with Honda. The transmissions on my other Hondas held up much better - 180k miles.
