was getting the engine reaching maximum temperature periodically and to not accelerate rapidly which eventually progress to stop and shut car off to cool down. Car taken to Honda dealer 1/2 mile from my house and they said the head gasket was gone. They did not say this was a chronic problem as I eventually saw on line it is a design flaw that allows some leakage of coolant ? into the system- although Honda did not specify.
The part was sent out to see if their was any cracks of other signs of dysfunctions due to it being made from aluminum, They reported yesterday it was cleared to have the head gasket replaced which is happening tomorrow 4/6/25. I have read that this has happened more than once with the same car to other people.
I paid the final payment on the car in March and had though the car would go 300,000 miles. Now I am in a quandary about whether I should trade the car or keep it and save up for when the extended warranty ends in 19k more miles which for me is less than a year, Up until this event, I have enjoyed the car, how it handles and drives, The only dismay I had from the beginning was there was no spare tire. I wonder the possibility of a reasonable extended warranty or if Honda will do something if I were to keep the car and this happened again in the next 100k miles??? Thank you
