Sometime at about 47 miles I began noticing a -??stickiness-?? in the steering. It feels hard to turn either direction and requires effort. Then suddenly it turns almost to the point of overcorrection. It also makes a creaking and popping sound. It seems to be getting worse and I-??m now at 53k miles. The amount of time the steering feels stuck is longer and more frequent. I see this is a common complaint and a recall for other year models but not the 2021 in spite of there being plenty of complaints about the exact same issue. Clearly something is wrong with the whole lot of CRVs manufactured with whatever this defective part is. I have no choice but to repair but shouldn-??t I expect to have a car made with functioning parts?

The steering is sticky at highway speeds like something is wrong with the steering input. The steering doesn't react then all of a sudden the steering wheel releases and over compensates requiring a quick opposite steering input. Difficult to drive on the highway. A real safety issue.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 50-60 MPH around a curve, the steering wheel was sticking after making a slight turn. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

While driving straight at any speed (not just on the highway), if a slight steer angle is input (usually to the left) it takes more than the expected amount of effort to return to center. It feels like the steering is sticking in place. This already leads to slight overcorrections during normal lane keeping, and if the problem worsens I can see how it might lead to a wreck. This has been an ongoing issue since about 10,000 miles. 2021 CR-V Hybrid EX.

Vehicle is 3,000 miles outside of warranty, and showed no signs of issues. Starting the car, the driver wheel was locked and all systems complaint of failure. The vehicle could start and drive but the driver wheel required all strength to turn. Taking the vehicle to a Honda Dealership they said the problem was a rack and pinion with an estimate of +$5,300 (not including taxes). This seems to be an abnormal type of repair so close out of warranty.
