My car was 5 1/2 weeks old when I was driving into my garage and approaching slowly when the vehicle jumped and took off hitting my garage wall. My reflexes were good and I put the brakes on before there was much more extensive damage. I was quite shaken by the event and did some research for a couple of days before I determined that the event was unintended acceleration. I contacted HONDA corporate on 3/19 advising them of the incident. I was given a case number a was told someone would be contacting me. On Monday 3/23 I phoned HONDA again and was told he was going to expedite my claim an I would definitely hear from corporate by Wednesday 3/25.

On Thursday 3/26 I called corporate again the person I spoke with once again told me my claim would be expedited. She advised me of warranty services including the possibility of receiving a loaner vehicle while mine was being repaired. At that I contacted my local dealership and spoke with service department and subsequently made an appointment to have them check it out on Monday 3/30. I was told by the service department that there was nothing sent to them by corporate regarding my claim. Since the event I have been somewhat frightened about the unintended acceleration happening again. It’s scary to think it could happen while I’m driving into traffic subjecting others to an accident.

In my research I discovered that there have been several model years of the CR-V with complaints of sudden unintended acceleration. I have yet to find the solution. This is virtually a brand new car and very disappointing to have an event like this happen.

Update from Apr 2, 2026 Honda corporate has reached out to me. Awaiting determination.

Update from Apr 25, 2026: Honda did send a specialized mechanic to evaluate my car. They flew him in and provided me with a loaner vehicle. Upon his inspection of my vehicle he tested the 12v battery, ran a full DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) check and stated : no DTC’S present in any module. Inspected vehicle: no defects in material or factory workmanship were found. I still contend that there was unintended acceleration causing me to crash into my garage wall. My research had shown me several similar complaints of unintended acceleration which included many many car manufacturers and Honda too had several complaints over the years. I feel as though Honda had covered themselves very well by bringing in a special mechanic to evaluate my car.
