fog lights getting condensation in them fog lights getting condensation in them fog lights getting condensation in them

My CR-Z developed condensation in the driver's side fog light. When the temperature dropped and it got below zero outside, the condensation froze and shattered the lens. The dealership said that they would only cover defects and not environmental factors. The defect was that the lens had condensation in it in the first place and that's what caused the problem. Called Honda of America and they told me basically the same thing. Said that the part is not covered if it failed due to temperature change. Apparently you can only drive your car indoors in order for anything to be covered under warranty because if the car breaks due to the weather, its not covered.

CR-Z EX 1.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 6,500 miles

I started to get condensation in both of my foglights. I thought it was the back of the bulb, but even when i changed bulbs it happened. The dealership told me to have the fog lights on for 90 mins to dry them out. I did this, but after a good car wash, the condensation came back. Sometimes in just one fog light, other times both. After a few moths of dealing with this, I took it into the dealership again and they almost didnt fix it. But after consideration they ordered new fog lights and replaced them. Now, I dont get condensation at all! Whew.
